There is a positive correlation between how often I post and how poorly my life is going.

Moved to wren@lemmy.today

Sometimes I post here by accident.

  • There are are no other fees for holding crypto, you only pay when you move it from one place to another, those fees change depending on time of day/week as well. Though some services (like coincards) may take additional processing fees.

  • I love how wholesome your wish is.

  • This sounds like a guy I wouldn't want approaching me.

Don't. You want to meet someone? Do things you like that involve other people and naturally encourage conversation. Sign up for shit. Volunteer.

Think about how you'd react if a rando woman approached you. Actually don't, let's add something to that. Think about how you would feel if a rando woman, who you don't find attractive, approached you after you've been told to smile by the barrista who made your coffee, after six guys at work tried to explain the basics of your job to you when you have seniority, and your soon to be ex partner suggested you should start waxing your upper lip five minutes before you had to leave for work, after the security guard at a grocery store followed you outside at night to ask for your phone number.

    Go do hobbies.

  • Good heavens, no. Terry Pratchett is more than capable of nuance, subtext, and a love for his characters that goes beyond propping up his own fantasy.

  • You sound like someone who thinks Terry Goodkind is poignant.

  • This the book with the extended author self-gratifying torture sex scene in the middle that has almost nothing to do with the story?

The author who went on about people being stupid when the entire plot hinges on the fact that the main character was forced to memorize a book for like, no reason, at the beginning?

The world with a tribe of "uneducated savages" who are saved by white man ingenuity, because, despite living in an area with heavy rainfall, they never thought of making roofs that don't leak?

The obvious self-insert main character who escapes being forced to breed with said savages by convincing them his jizz is poison?

  • I was in this situation the chicks side. Not exactly, but close enough.

I was living and working in the woods. After work some of us were chilling by a lake in swimsuits, one of my camp friends mentioned I had noticeable abs, so I was like fuck yeah. A few of us complimented each other on how tanned and defined we got over the summer. The older coworker walked by, said my body looked great, very beautiful. Mic drop, we all stared at him.

I said "Creepy." Not articulate, no. But I was instantly uncomfortable. He said "How?" and we told him to just leave.

Yes, we were young women showing skin and glistening in the sun. But we weren't thinking of being sexy for anyone (who didn't already know) in that moment. He took our ease and comfort and made it about his pleasure.

He tried to talk to me about it later, alone. I was cordial. Respectful. Because I wanted that conversation to end, because trying to explain the nuances of the female experience just wasn't landing for him. His explanation was about me understanding what he thought and meant, not how I felt. To my friends? I said he was a fucking creep who wouldn't drop it. He complained that I made it weird because one of my friends told him to stop trying to talk to me.

Women aren't trying to be pretty for you, don't make it about you. If you fuck up, as people do, just back off and accept that you fucked up. The camp police guy probably knew more about her honest opinion than you were ever going to get. Might have gone a bit overboard in some misguided attempt to "protect" the chick he liked, but you sound like you can't take a hint.

  • And they owe a lot on back property taxes.

  • The concept of Luthor is smart. He didn't always have smart writers.

  • Pumpernickel. Even with jam.

  • But Lex Luthor was supposed to be brilliant.

  • One last fuck party before we let the moss take us.

  • Here is a map of basic income pilot programs from around the world.

Not only has it been studied, the studies have been taking place for over fifty years. Universal basic income is cheaper in practice than the numerous other social programs that help people who either can't work, shouldn't work or can't work enough to afford their needs.

In a lot of cases the people who choose to work less do so because they have children, health issues or dependants.

  • Soviet style mass apartment complexes to combat homelessness but you have to download an app to get in and out, and the app collects and sells all your data. There's a concierge who does spot checks but they accept bribes in fresh fruit, vegetables and old N64 games.

The internets. Multiple internets, like different streaming services and you need to pay a subscription to each one to access all the websites.

Rail guns. Everyone will have a rail gun. It will be awesome.

  • Making immigration more difficult already benefits the wealthy. Not having birthright citizenship won't change that.

Citizens are already being born without any questions about their character. And voting. And changing politics. Because foreign influence doesn't come from some kind of sleeper agent citizen who was bred to take down governments, it comes through social media, embargos, lobbying and data harvesting—which is way easier than some kind of Bourne Identity plot.

But it's become clear you're arguing in case of a specific worst case scenario that I don't believe is any more likely when jus soli comes with few or no conditions.

Unless you have specific data to support jus soli's direct responsibility for the modern day manipulation by foreign influence, I don't want to continue this conversation.

    Have a good one.

  • That's assuming foreign parents who had no intention of staying in a country decided to take the option of granting their child citizenship to that country for no reason. Then, that child lives somewhere that allows dual citizenship. And then, that child, once grown up in a foreign country, who has no commitment or interest in the nation of their birth, goes out of their way to vote and exert political influence on the country to which they have no commitment.

In those few, extremely rare cases are enough to fuck up a nation's politics, immigration isn't the problem.

  • I prefer the thermarest because the shape keeps it in the hammock instead of getting messed up with my tossing and turning. It just conforms when I'm on it.

I have never had a situation where I couldn't find trees to camp in. Assuming any dessert campers out there know what kind of land they're exploring before they pack their gear. With a few extra pieces you could anchor to rock, too.
