I know Voyager can hide "subscribed" from your "all" feed. It doesn't do multiple custom feeds though.
You could make a different user for your news feed. Switching users is as easy as switch feeds in most clients.
I think it's different from XP in that they made an already paid product entirely unusable.
On XP I could at least continue using it many years past the EOL, offline, or online at my own risk.
The EOL of Windows 10 removes my option to use the software that I paid for and also the hardware that I paid for, for the purposes that I bought it for in the first place. I paid for the license and I paid for the hardware. It's fine if they stop supporting it, but there's no reason for making it unusable for backward compatibility.
They're basically forcing people to repurpose their almost new hardware, sold until recently as "Windows machines", for Linux.
Look, Microsoft left windows 10 to rot. The only update they're shipping is the nag screen for Windows 11. When you get the update, it hogs all your ressources to download the entirety of Windows 11 and keep it in ram, only to show a blue screen that says "Your pc can't run Windows 11".
Click OK/cancel/whatever, doesn't matter, because nothing happens. Then it repeats the whole downloading update procedure from the beginning next time you reboot.
If for some reason you need Windows on a less than brand new machine, then your only option is to disable updates or else it just won't work.
Yeah BYD will survive, but smaller brands like hiphi, neta, nio, LI auto, etc. There are more than 160 different Chinese brands trying to enter the markets. Most of them will or have already failed in Europe, even if they are active in other countries.
Plenty of new European brands have also failed for the same reasons.
I do see some chinese brands on the road, but not many in comparison to other more established brands.
The thing keeping people away from chinese brands is the uncertainty of future repairs. The "flood" might come in a few years once people have more experience with how it's handled. Currently, as people get their first EVs, they want to be able to take their VW to the VW shop, not take their BYD to the random no-name mechanic with a BYD sticker on their window.
Everyone is also waiting for the statistics from the EU inspections. Nobody wants a car that can't pass the inspection in a few years time. Tesla has proven to be a huge failure in that regard, and I think that will scare people away from not only Tesla, but also the unknown chinese brands who yet have to prove themselves.
It also doesn't help that these smaller brands pop up and go bankrupt in the same year as they scramble to find their markets.
EU brands might not be any better or cheaper, but at least they are better represented locally.
It was obviously a difficult decision when not knowing what it would be like, but I think the key for me was that it's the kind of experience that you can only fully grasp by going through with it. I just had to YOLO it.
No regrets. Not only did I get to be part of their lives, but it also changed me in ways that I would never have thought possible otherwise. I learned a lot.
It's hard work and expensive, but I don't think I've missed out of anything that I could've had or done if I hadn't had kids. I suppose I'm very privileged in the sense that they haven't been a hinderance in any regard. It's not really a choice between being able to do something or not. It's more about having these tiny companions along when you decide do it anyway.

Whenever they start talking about how disgusting beards are, which is surprisingly more common that it ought to be, they always come to the same conclusion: Beards are nice if the man "keeps it", by groming, cleaning, cutting, brushing, shaving the stubble and so on. A good beard is a plus, a bad beard is negative. And so they always make sure to point out that they don't mean me, because I'm one of the guys with a good beard.
They're all simultaneously looking at me, judging my beard and agreeing that this is the acceptable kind of beard, looking for my input and begging for my mansplanation.
However I just nod, and say "yeah yeah mm.mm. you have a point". I don't actually let them in on my secret to my "acceptable beard", because what the fuck are they to do with that anyway? They don't have beards.
I have and use vinyls, but I use them differently.
I don't keep a collection and they're not rare or expensive. They cost next to nothing in second hand stores when I buy the odd "greatest hits" and mixed artist records that have no collectible value.
I use them with no regard to their longevity - I consume them. I play them on a cheap record player with a less than ideal needle or speakers, well aware that they will wear down and become useless over time. I don't care. I don't believe in the need to preserve everything that is old only due to it being old. I'll leave that for the museums. I don't run a museum.
I do it because I like the part of the ritual where you actually just listen to records and hear all the songs that are on there without having to make a choice or change tracks all the time.
A lot of records only have one or two hit songs. The rest is stuff I'd never choose to search for, and is never played on the radio. These are the tracks I like to hear, because I would not be exposed to them otherwise.
