  • Not sure why you're getting the downvotes. Your comment is educated and makes sense. I'm still against the use of LLM's based on the fact they are pure theft, owned by billionaires, and destroying the earth, but I do agree, at least use it correctly and use the correct tool. If all information was paid for, all data centers owned by the public, completely transparent on the info they contain, and ran completely on renewable energy, there'd be nothing really wrong with the tech (other than creating slop that destroyed the internet and eroded trust in everything, which is a massive downside).

  • This is why people who don't know how computing works should be banned from touching anything LLM adjacent. The amount of misinformation makes me pull my hair out. Even them calling it "AI" is idiotic and I correct anyone using the term. It's a word generator. Or if you will, a bullshit generator built on stolen knowledge then sold back to you as slop.

  • Yeah there is a recipe specific switch for kagi. it's great

  • I actually just posted about this. Folks using chatbots for sounding boards. Dangerous territory.

Watch out for your brain. You're eroding it.

Do you think your metacognition is "very high" because the gibbity told you it is? Interesting how it tells you exactly what you want to hear. Almost as if it's programmed for mass addiction. Huh.

  • We don't hate the technology. We hate that people who have zero idea how computing works think they are being so unique by boiling our oceans so they can put glue on pizza. If people were slightly less lazy pieces of shit with any morals, they'd find a way to cook without enabling the downfall of humanity. But humans are idiots, and are going to take the easiest path possible, instead of using tools we've had for decades.

If we had more autistic folks with a strong sense of justice, we'd be a lot better off.

  • You're gonna get downvoted to hell - but may I suggest use a better search engine and find good websites to bookmark, like we've done for 25+ years already, instead of destroying the planet and handing over everything to authoritarian billionaires?

    Kagi. Ecosia. Searxng. hell, DDG.

Kagi has an AWESOME recipes feature. Well worth the $5 a month I pay. Kagi honestly improved my life quality way more than I Imagined.

Sure, if you've been a normie using chrome with no adblock and google for searching, the gibbity is going to look better to you. Get educated and learn of alternatives and you'll see how shitty the gibbity is. Not to mention, you have maybe a year or two before you'll need a subscription for any tokens to get those recipes that gibbity blatantly stole with 0 repercussions, because the compute cost is through the roof. Just don't.

  • imagine a young persons "nostalgia" in the future...disgusting. I've never felt older than now. Truly horrible stuff.

  • Yeah, I have tried explaining this to people. We have been able to do all of these things for decades with minimal effort (and without destroying the planet while handing it over to fascist billionaires)

The issue: non-nerds have never even heard of a gimp, and the majority of people now do not use a computer. Try finding one young person who does most computing on a laptop, let alone a desktop (no one uses desktops any more. Of my ~15 friends/acquaintances I can think of, I am the only one with desktops). It's all phonephonephone (a phone loaded with spyware, to boot).

  • I mean I constantly enjoy being as algorithm free as possible and paying far less than any of my friends for better services and no/less ads. I enjoy curating my experience instead of zucc selling me trash I don't need. I think most humans like being fed slop though, so be it.

  • This is exactly why corporations/governments want to keep them tired and not caring. That's how they get them to stay on large social media platforms where they can send millions of bots to shift the vote their way through propaganda, and it never ends, never gets better. It's a dream for an authoritarian who thinks everything big brother did in 1984 was the best idea ever.

And to your point, the people keep having those problems because they are giving every shred of their money and data to massive corporations without a minuscule thought of how it affects other people. It's a downward spiral from there.

Location being constantly tracked because you use google services turns into tracking where you shop turns into tracking your buying habits turns into...hey, we can charge this fool even more for the product they're buying, and they'll keep buying it! Even better we can create 56 fake brands all within a few cents differing price of each other so no one knows what product is actually good, and make millions of bot reviews so those aren't reliable either!

All because people can't be bothered to just think about who they are giving their data to.

  • woof!

  • Hoooo boy. I've been asking this for ages. It's INSANELY hard. I don't think it's possible actually. Normies gonna norm, and they're gonna use "what everyone else uses".

Until zucc climbs through their window to take a video of them performing a circus act for "age verification" in order to use their social media platform, people are never going to embrace the weird, scary, darkweb fediverse.

  • Gophernet and geminiprotocol and tor. Get educated!

  • I loved GTA. But I feel zero want for this. Same with battlefield. I was a huge fan. I have zero cares now. I'm much more excited for indie games.

  • Its just wayyyyyyy harder to find now and folks dont have capacity to search.

  • Ah gotcha yeah I'm not seriously advocating using a math equation to care if others date an older person ha

  • Jfc, its a joke. Lemmy is getting as insufferable as reddit. "ACKshualllyyyyy"

  • Divide by 2 and add 7. Checks out

  • Its compounded for me by the fact that everything I had or was interested in was 20 years old when I was young, plus I lived in the same neighborhood of courage the cowardly dog. So now, I feel like I'm about 80 and everything truly is over because tech sucks and all my favorite musicians are dead 😆
