  • Let's not pretend that a lot of good cars met an early end in C4C. People were hauling in their broken garbage to cash in. Nobody was bringing in some pristine example of anything good. A whole lot of raggedy minivans, crappy econoboxes and rusty trucks got sand in their engines. If they were worth anything, the scrapyard could have plopped a new motor in them and resold them.

    C4C cleaned out the bottom of the barrel shit. Unless you were dying for some fucked up shitheap of a car, nothing of value was lost. If someone was dumb enough to roll in with something useful, you know damn well that the dealer would have given them the same money for it and just resold it. Yeah, you weren't supposed to do that, and politicians aren't supposed to fuck children either.

    We aren't doing this. Even if we were, most smart candidates are not going to accept a lowball and I don't want to offer one.

    If i paid you the same or barely more than your current salary, you would not change jobs. If I were able to force a shit salary down someone's throat, they are going to keep looking because I forced a shit salary down their throats.

    While I don't doubt this is happening, it will only be effective if people accept it. If a company lowballs you, don't take the fucking offer!

    I need someone in my open roles. If I don't hire them, I have to do that work. If the company sees me doing the work, they will think that it is OK and it is cheaper to have me do all the work and close the open position. Therefore, I am willing to pay someone a reasonable offer above the original.

    Always ask for more. When we need roles filled, most of are good to give. Its not my money, what do I care? I'm certainly not going to rescind the offer because someone asked. Only useless bootlickers who think they will be rewarded by saving the company $10k will hold firm. They will also have a staff full of people that hate them and do shit work. Ask for more.

    I think there should be, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. So many people are willingly give up anything that resembled privacy for a little convenience and novelty.

    Until people actually start paying attention and actively refusing to take the bait on these modern conveniences (it just works!!!) this will just get worse.

  • I used to read The Drive. I read an article about all of the nonsense with Carlos Gnosn being smuggled out of Japan in a shipping crate and then they had an interview with him.

    Whomever was interviewing them was just serving up softball after softball. No real content, just letting the guy spout off about whatever opinion he had. No actual details about what happened with his prosecution in Japan. In the comments, I made note of the one-sided nature of the interview. They deleted the comments. I commented that they're deleting comments (I saw a few others that were saying the same thing deleted). They deleted those comments too. I stopped going there. Fuck that.

    Now we have this fucking piece of shit article written by some fucking corporate bootlicker, serving up more softballs to a known piece of shit. The author was fucking arrested because of some Flock shit and he's defending Flock? How fucking stupid do you have to be?!

  • I hold out the thin hope that manufacturers will not want to split their product lines any more than they have to and will make these devices available globally.

    It's possible that they want to hang on to the revenue streams that making irreparable garbage generates, but it would have to be greater than the cost of designing and manufacturing a second product line for most of their stuff.
