I feel like this about SimpleX. It was a hellish struggle to get people to use Signal (and still a bunch only use Instagram or insist on doing plain phone calls/SMS). Some of my family continuously complain that Signal is too complicated despite the interface being pretty much exactly the same as whatever app they want to use. I really don't want to try to get them to use another app ever again.
The main issue with Session is they removed PFS when they redesigned everything. Also, it's admittedly been years since I tried it, but I remember the app being noticeably buggy.
I do think the lower-end chips actually have great battery life, but once you start going for the higher performance ones you unsurprisingly sacrifice battery for power, so the battery life becomes merely "good" instead of "great."
They have better battery life than most laptops, but it also strongly depends on what configuration you use and what you're doing. For instance, my M1 Max laptop has never hit its stated battery life and frankly is pretty close to my AMD laptop (when its battery wasn't half dead). The AMD laptop is admittedly heavier though.
AFAIK they're about the same as the M4 in terms of battery life. If you look at their marketing, their battery life improvements are based on their Intel and M1 laptops (whose owners they seem to be targeting for upgrades).
From what I've heard, there are AMD laptop chips with better multi-core performance, although worse single-core. Other than the spec bump, this is pretty much the same as the M4 laptops.
Basically if you like macOS (and only macOS since Linux will probably take half a decade to show up given the current rate of Asahi Linux support with newer chips) and specifically need more perf for whatever reason (especially for AI), it's a nice upgrade.
Hopefully this develops to be a real alternative in the future. Unfortunately, it seems to not really have much of the kind of music I tend to listen to atm.
One of their comments mentions that having it preinstalled may or may not happen. The aim atm seems to be the current Pixel situation where you unlock the device and install it yourself.
I vaguely remember something about some torchlit march (in Bavaria?) and people accusing suckless devs of being Nazis. Also their entire concept is just kind of elitist.
Note that I have no idea if the Nazi claims are true or not.

I mean, I don't think I'd classify someone like that as straight up poor. They're certainly working class, but if you can afford to survive for a year without work, you're significantly more well-off than someone living paycheck to paycheck.
I think there's a small middle class who could survive without working for a year or so, but wouldn't really be able to live well. Probably mostly just lower level tech workers and so on. Although if they moved to really poor areas in the US they could probably be classified as rich so YMMV I guess.
I find it funny that this always gets posted when people make comparisons to North Korea, which is pretty much always chosen because it's like the poster child for shit human rights. Do you want them to pick the Congo instead or something?
