  • how telling it is that so many of his appointees are former fox hosts. he thinks they're qualified to do these jobs because they're the only people he's ever heard talk about these topics in a way that seems authoritative. that's the level of political discourse that the president engages in

  • if there's a minimum amount of consuming fossil fuels that's required to continue to live in society, and the goal is to eliminate that, then we need change on a societal level. individuals alone cannot solve the problem, and therefore cannot be blamed for the problem existing

  • because not purchasing anything that is produced or transported with energy from fossil fuels means fucking off into the woods to starve to death naked in a hut made of mud and twigs

  • when reading The Silmarillion, it's important to remember that Finrod, the brother of Galadriel, is different from Fingon. Fingon is Finrod's cousin, and also the brother of Turgon. Cooping was a form of electoral fraud in the United States by which gangs kidnapped citizens off the street and forced them to vote, often repeatedly, for an election candidate.... so-called "cooping gangs" or "election gangs" working for a political candidate would hold random victims in a chamber or cellar (the "coop") and ply them with alcohol or beat them to get them to comply.

  • if you want to remove them from the area entirely because they consume too many resources, why would you go to the trouble of performing surgery and re-releasing it to consume more resources instead of just killing it. the former solves the problem in the future, the latter solves the problem now

  • a neutered animal still consumes resources
