Nerd of many hats.

  • Hey, since they Big keeping saying cars don’t matter, and nobody buys them, and nobody buys EVs, they should just ban Chinese SUVs and trucks, right? Right?!

  • Registration. If they haven’t gone through all the National Highway Safety Administration tests, it’s not able to be registered (or was a while ago, I haven’t kept up). A couple of decades ago, there was a billionaire who bought a couple extra supercars and had them destroyed by testing, so that his would be road-legal.

  • If the nearest store still has one, do a demo of it. It is quite impressive. You can see where they’re trying to get ready for whatever comes after smartphones

  • Hate on his syntax all you want, he’s right. California trying to prevent 3D printed guns and screwing up 3D printing in general, and you know the instant it threatens those in power they’ll go after this. But local models and open models will still be able to do it.

  • And I’m sure Texas will be “come on down, y’all. Ted Cruz already knows which planes go to Cancun”

  • Technically at 1 nine. I heard it dropped below that back in the spring?

  • The remote is shit, yes, and there’s an alternative to it. I can’t recall whether or not they’ve fixed that on the newer AppleTv remotes or not, but I detest that there’s no mute, either.

That said, it’s still pretty good, especially compared to the alternatives. The Roku keeps enshittifying harder and harder

  • From Mirriam-Webster: “In journalism, the lede refers to the introductory section of a news story that is intended to entice the reader to read the full story.”

The title was great but the lede was equally great

  • The branding is working and made for a great lede: “For a short amount of time, Westerville will not have the meats.”

  • People have to buy the games… if the machine doesn’t support it, nobody to buy it.

  • How is music killing the planet?

  • For this story, Fortune’s journalists used generative AI as a research tool.

  • In that case, it was an empty bag. There’s a gag in the game/book about a microscopic space fleet appearing and then getting eaten by a dog. The peril-sensitive sunglasses (which were supposed to turn black when there were dangerous situations) were made of black cardboard, etc. Low budget but hysterical.

  • Infocom’s were the best.

You got sunglasses, a microscopic space fleet, a don’t panic pin, postcards, and something to read.

  • Don’t take any medicine whatsoever and die young. You can do it. We’ll carry on. Somehow.

  • They have good hold music? Can you elaborate?
