    Regarding blocking of individuals: feel free to do that, if it helps you having a better time, that is perfectly fine.

    But I started tagging strange people if I think that something they said is not correct. Then later I randomly see them somewhere else behaving normally. So my current plan is tag them first to see if I find this one person repulsive again and if so then block them. This way it is less carpet bombing and I accept that everybody can have a bad day where they lash out.

    Which is so fucked up, because first it implies it's oh so important to know your biological father and second it specifically puts mothers in a worse position. Because spoiler alert: I can't remember my birth, so I also can't know for sure if my parents are indeed my biological parents. If we go the route of "they lied to you", well why should I trust them then that my mother is indeed my mother? So simply a nice mix of misogyny.

  • I don't know anyone who wrote holy books or is a saint, so I cannot know their truthworthiness. I do however know the persons who raised me. Are they my biological parents? From certain traits I'm pretty sure yes. But even if they wouldn't be, it wouldn't change that they raised me and that is far more important to me than who gave me their genes.

  • No, you bring it back to where you bought it and they need to take care of it. And it is not for every electronic, but only the big stuff (oven, washing machine). Which makes it a hassle mostly, so people don't do it.

    Smaller electronics you can bring to the communal waste collector, they should do the further sorting and recycling.

If that outside factor goes away, they will focus more on what is happening around them. That the status quo in our current world is hurting a lot of people is absolutely correct, sadly.

  • Nothing prevents it totally. It could 100% be just as bad as Facebook. But only those servers owned by those propaganda pushers. It is harder to take over the whole and push your agenda to all users, when they can simply block your instance and let you stew in your hate.

    Best example for that: the tankies, which are mostly ignored or ridiculed outside their own safe spaces.

    And while I do think there will always be nationalistic fuckwards, I think the big number now and in the past are only possible due to massive propaganda. If that is not possible, people steer more to "normal" stuff. Because most people are not majorally negatively affected by the status quo.

  • Definitely an interesting question that made me think.

    First, I would say directors are usually not praised for the acting of the actors, because it is not the directors craft that is shining. They are however praised for selecting good fitting actors and for giving those actors the right lines and scenes in order to shine, because that is their usual involvement. And of course the direction giving during the filming, as their title implies. The whole movie is the combination of a lot of smaller artworks and the skillful combination of those pieces is the art of the director and what they get praised for. Like a collage: the pieces are created by other artist but the skilful arrangement of it is an art form in itself, without praising the collage artist for the individual artworks.

    The question in my opinion is rather if film directors in general are artists, because as you said: they don't do it by themselves but rather rely on other people: actors, cameramen, cutter, editors... . And each single work could also be done by the director themselves instead of relying on other people.

    And I would say: yes, film directors can be artist, if they involve themselves in the creative process in a significant way instead of giving every decision to other people and just being a producer with a different title. To refer to my prior comment: the intentionality is the artists touch. Like any boss of a creative team, like in video game production: it depends.

    If Spielberg was involved in their movies in that way I cannot say, becausei haven't looked into it. Probably they did and they are, but I cannot answer your specific question in earnest, because I don't know.
