I think that's what I said with signal too. the exception is you can have your messages follow you, if you still have the old phone, because the app supports transferring the data.
the only time they mention signal is when they explain they used linked devices to obtain signal messages. not SMS! if you lose your phone or whatever, and log in on a new device, your messages won't magically reappear, they are lost, and all your contacts get a warning that your safety numbers have changed.
I understand that, but what tools would you use if all open source devs stopped their contributions? there wouldn't be anything left. we could go back to windows 11, googlified android with all the scam ads of the world, etc. I feel this mindset hurts the open source community more than the ubercapitalist pigs
there is no pihole device, it is just a software you run on linux. you can run it on any kind of computer, desktop, laptop, raspberry or a cheaper SBC, even on old smartphones (but, due to it needing to bind to a port lower than 1000 the phone needs to be rooted first), even on your home rputer if it can run openwrt. but you likely want to have it on something that does not consume much power, because this will be running 24/7

I feel the other way with the few friends I have. I need them more than they need me, and it shows, it's always me reaching out. this makes me have the unfair feeling too, that I am taking their time
in the embedded jitsi based calls you can set the screen share fps in its own settings. if your server uses element call, I don't think you need such a setting?
Nobody is credibly suggesting that everyone should switch to IPv6 without a firewall.

Every single domestic router for the past two decades has included a firewall, and that would not change in an all IPv6 world.
my ISP router does not have firewall settings, despite supporting IPv6. it has a DMZ setting, able to forward all incoming traffic to a specific internal IP, and that's it. I have a similar experience with cheap consumer routers too.
well this became very long. but if you consider how is the synchronized file treated by the clients, as the main database or just a file known to be shared, then it can be figured out. but always verify your theory in practice, and check the docs of your clients if they have anything to say about synced databases.
