go away. you are a weirdo if you are reading this.

  • come on insult me harder.

you're clearly very emotionally intelligence and realize this is my kink.

spell it out for me, in vivid detail, how emotionally stupid i am. i want to see your intent baby.

  • Oh yeah, what is my belief system them?

according to posters on lemmy, I vote for trump, but i'm also far left, i'm a centrist lib, but also a far right socialist, etc.

weird how that there is zero consistency in how others categorize me... perhaps because I don't have a rigid well-defined system of belief that they insist I must have. you have have beliefs about the world without them being systematic or unified under any particular ideology or political grouping.

though i understand that for most fediverse users, this idea is inconceivable, because they live to define themselves and others by belief systems, and like you, then immediately go for insults about how stupid, dumb, and ignorant you are, if you don't agree with them about your own beliefs.

because you know, just insult, mock, and harass anyone who doesn't agree with you. as you just done. because you are some superior being who is so well-educated and I am clearly an ignorant fool who should listen to you and your wisdom.

  • really, sounds like you shouldn't be running an ad blocker or any of that stuff then. because you don't need a clean internet, it's good to view the web saturated with ads trying to sell you shit you don't want or need.

Also, you should only read books that you aren't interested in or that you hate. Because what is the point of reading if you aren't making yourself miserable while doing so?

  • yeah. i also blocked db0 manually too. no idea what the other instance is. pretty sure i blocked db0 before it was a standard block on piefed.

i have no interest in anarchists and their delusional worldviews and their fantasizing about violence and revolution.

i don't have a belief system. but i notice pretty much everyone fedi loves to tell me about how wrong mine is and how i need to believe what they believe or I'm a terrible awful shitty human being.

i also don't buy penis enlargement pills, or listen to fundamentalist Christians, or flat earthers and lots other things. those folks also 'challenge my belief system', but my belief is that they are deranged and obsessed with falsehoods.

mormons come to by door a few times a year and want to educate about how christ will make my life meaningful and amazing, i also don't listen to them either. and i highly doubt you are letting them into your home to lecture you too.

Folks love to worship strong men leaders.

  • i have met people in real life who are 100% addicted to it and can't stop talking about it in person. it's simple like a way people live now, how they process the entirety of their life everyday.

and they won't ever see the fault in themselves. they will simple call you names and say you are implicitly supporting the 'bad side' in the story if you dare to say maybe it is stupid and rage bait. and yeah, they see it as their mission to 'educate' you and everyone else about the 'truth' they see that 'nobody else sees'.

it's a form of ego-tripping in the end. they feel like they are doing god's work, and proselytizing the good word of outrage and they must shun the non-believers lest their purity of their rage ever be tested.

  • good news is that the majority of this content is coming from a handful of people. and you can block them and you'll see a massive reduction in it.

like some of the folks my block lists post 50+ times a day, and are in the comments of their post viciously attacking anyone who dares to question the legitimacy of the content they post, calling them names and often trying to bait them into saying something they can get them banned for. because it's like... their self-appointed job or something? i have no clue.

i also work in tech and i blocked a ton of the weird linux fetishist stuff, which again, was a few posters and communities who just evangelize non stop everyday about how superior and holy they are for their OS use, and how awful and terrible windows/apple is.

  • yep, this is exactly why i have blocked those instances myself.

i'm not an extremist. i don't hate everyone who is different than me, etc. and i don't want to interact with folks who think that way or promote content that pushes hate and rage and self-victimhood. according to a lot of folks on those instances, that viewpoint means I'm a fascist capitalist Nazi who want to murder them implicitly... because anyone who isn't with them, is against them.

and yeah i didn't block them 2 years ago, but over time that stuff kept getting worse and worse and more prevalence and the users from the instances kept drive-by commenting and sending me messages taht were pure vitriol and hate.

there is no 'winning' by viewing those types of folks or the content they post on lemmy. so blocking is really the best way to improve your experience.

i'm just here to like, relive old reddit when it was funny and goofy and nerdy. i'm interested in politics, but from a very different place than most political posters here are, and I get demonized for like... wanting to promote understanding and find common ground. but i'm clearly a big centrist fascist bootlicker, or something.

  • maybe user just wants to use the internet without random strangers trying to constantly put arbitrary labels on them and using such labels as justification for harassment?

it's almost as if other people use the internet in other ways than you do. not everyone is here to push an agenda or play politics police.

  • cool. i disagree. in my 3 years on fedi it's been the most chill instance that is more hands off than many of the other ones.

and the userbase is far less militant than other instances.

    piefed.social is fairly chill too

  • and when the vast majority of the population is in the middle, and you're on the extreme, you'll think they are against you.

when what they really think is you are weird and annoying and you should shut up because you're talking about shit that nobody wants or even cares about.

  • it's not even 2d, it's 1d. everyone who isn't me is bad and wrong. many folks here are are straight up solipsistic.

and you aren't going to elevate anyone like that. they have to take their own head out of their own ass, which is possible, but more likely to be triggered by real life experiences and trauma than internet posts.

of course that's also not necessary they will ever get better, they often get worse. i have had friends have a traumatic life experience an just shove their head further up their ass even more than it was before. especially during covid.

most users only use blocks when it's a BIG SHINY button they can smash. when they see something they don't like.

they will never look at their block list

  • it's not really.

it's weird sometimes when you see a post with like 150 comments, and you only see 50 or 75.

but you really won't be missing anything of substance. and it's a lot nicer to not have to read like 75 comments from unhinged folks who just spout hated and rage and say nothing productive or interesting.

you will miss a lot of content, yeah, but a lot of that content won't be content you will miss.

i also appreciate being able to read a thoughtful interesting comment that is well-developed, and not see the 10 replies calling them a nazi facist capitalist imperialist pigdog, that complete misunderstand the parent comment because they are so dogmatic that anything that doesn't support their bizarro worldview must be labeled as propaganda or hatespeech against themselves.

  • cool, my card metaphor would be, how many good hands are there in poker? there are 10.

and most everyone disregarded the last two, and only plays if they have two pair or higher, so only 8 are considered worthwhile to have.

everyone is chasing the same thing, to have one of the higher ranked hands so that they can win.

i'm glad you look at a dirty diaper and think it's a beautiful rainbow, but most of us just think it's shit and we toss it in the trash. and we only see a real rainbow maybe once or twice a year or less.

i have lived my life entirely shocked at how similar and robotic most folks live their lives. very few people are unique or interesting, most are just a series of cliches and can only express themselves in cliches because they have never had a critical or original thought in their entire life.

  • People forget that.

The point of a coach is someone who is observing you and giving you input that you can't necessary see yourself. And also assisting you with planning and strategizing that is very hard to do on your own. it's a division of labor.

that said even professional relationship experts are working with a ton of cultural and sexist biases and other dogmas that may or may not apply to your circumstances, so whether or not their advice is useful or practical for your situation is something you have to be aware of.

pretty much most 'advice' folks ever gave me a form of 'make more money'. which as far as I'm concerned, isn't relationship advice, it's just cultural dogmatism that money is all that matters in the end.

  • also why the 'just break up with them' is good advice. because well, if it's that bad of an issue it's already probably past the point of no return and there isn't any fixing it.

once trust is broken, there isn't any fixing it. you'll just forever be in a relationship that is damaged, but for some folks that's better than not being in a relationship.

  • I hate meeting dudes who want to talk to me about how they hate their wife and kids and how glorious my life is because I'm single.

and yeah, if you meet their wife, you also hate their wife because she just talks to you about how he sucks as a husband/man.

miserable people tend to love being miserable together. and their misery is always someone else's fault.
