  • That's been their goal this entire time. We can call Americans stupid all day long but the fact of the matter is that there have been people at work pushing people this way all over the world since before a lot of us were even born. I remember when I was a kid in the early 2000s there were already kids in my class that were getting exemptions to vaccines before they were even using autism as an excuse to not get them.

  • Have you ever talked to people that were in a cult before or seen interviews? You'd be surprised how far things can go before they start to wake up to what's really going on, especially those that were indoctrinated from a young age. You're asking people to change their entire outlook on reality along with their beliefs and opinions and then call them stupid without getting it on the first try. No matter who's right or wrong, If someone was trying to do that to you would you not get immediately pissed off and try to avoid them as much as possible?

  • In moments like this we really have to distinguish the difference between ignorance and stupidity. There are a lot of people that voted for Trump because they are legitimately stupid and believe everything he says without question. But there is another group that, for one reason or another, fell for the grift a second time out of ignorance and genuinely believed he would "drain the swamp." I understand the immediate desire to say things like "you get what you voted for," but that aggressive stance is exactly why so many people flocked to Trump in the first place. Calling them stupid and making fun of them is exactly why they flocked to the side that made them feel "special." Because just like every cult, they convince the ignorant, angry, and confused people to join them by making them feel vilified and righteous.

    I'm not saying don't be angry with them. Your anger is justified and it is cathartic to say "I told you so," but we should direct our anger towards the cult leader not the victims of the cult. A lot of these people were just angry at all the same things we are angry about. Trump used it as an opportunity to scoop them up into his cause and promise them the world to just take advantage of them (he is a rapist, afterall). I'm sure almost everyone that joins a cult has said at some point they'd never be dumb enough to join a cult.

  • I'm starting to think this is a worldwide issue and we are slowly reaching the climax of global society. Governments and US politicians caving to Trump, the slow adoption of authoritarian laws, the increase of mass surveillance around the world, governments denying genocide when they see it, politicians ignoring the public, and so many more issues. I feel like every world leader has blackmail on every other world leader and we are just waiting to see who gets exposed first. And when that does happen, I expect a domino effect of things akin to the Epstein files being exposed as every world leader gets their dirty secrets leaked one after the other.

  • Well, you should have a problem with it but not for the reasons you think. Any invasion of privacy is an issue when the people in control get to decide what is a reportable offense without explicitly telling you. I get it, you definitely shouldn't be admitting anything illegal or asking illegal advice from a chat bot. You shouldn't be doing anything that is illegal in the first place.That's basically the same as googling how to make a bomb and if you're that dumb you'll get what's coming to you. The issue arrives when you look at the bigger picture. If they have the ability to report anything they want to the police, what's stopping them from releasing anything they want to anyone they want at any time? And when it comes to those receiving the data that's been reported, what proof do you have that these entities have yours or anyone else's interests or safety in mind? What if they decide to change the rules on what they should report, they don't tell you, and then retroactively flag a bunch of your conversions with said LLM.

    It's the same kinda situation that we face with these AI cameras that track us and our vehicles literally everywhere we go. There have already been multiple cases where people in law enforcement were using these tools to stalk people like ex girlfriends. All this is putting a lot of trust into people that none of us even know and expect them to have the best of intentions. What would stop them from reporting that you asked ChatGPT about the current situation in Gaza?

  • Yeah, they would. Not the politicians or hardcore MAGA people online, but the people in my community that overwhelmingly voted for trump definitely would. The majority of them are radicalized and indoctrinated, not evil. My parents voted for Trump but I don't think they'd celebrate my death just because of what I voted for.

    You are lost, my friend. I hope you find your way that doesn't involve being happy when children die. If your fight against radicalization turns you into a radical yourself the only thing you'll accomplish is moving the target.

    I'm not saying you have to shed a tear for the people that caused this. But not shedding a tear for innocent children that are the victims is a slippery slope you do not want to go down, my friend.

  • In my opinion, don't blame the young voters for their choice. At least not entirely. They've been getting spoon fed propaganda by the internet, their parents, and the news their entire lives. Blame the parents that made everything their kids were doing a political issue from the moment they were conceived. Blame the platforms that have been incentivizing hate on their platforms for money. Blame the corporations that have been actively brainwashing people since the era of social media began. Blame the news for never telling the truth and making everything a spectacle.
