He might not have known exactly where the danger was, so it just sheltered in place and called for help. Or maybe he just got frozen with fear and scared to move at all.
People talk about 'fight or flight'. But a third instinct - freeze - can also happen.
Years ago while living in the suburbs, I was literally stalked up a quiet residential street at midnight by a female fox. I was walking my large dog at the time, and the fox was barking at him. Turns out the fox was in heat and thought my dog was a good mating option. It followed us for several minutes. It was pretty freaky because I didn't recognize the sound but I could see something from about 100 feet away. It looked kind of like a small dog, but sounded unearthly.
So basically: foxes can be incredibly bold animals, even in suburban areas. And this theory seems plausible to me.
Boiling down the frustration of me and others in these situation to "you're just saying I told you so" is facile. We've been down the path of "yay, good job on seeing the light! Go you! One of us gobble gobble!" far too many times. And it doesn't do shit. Like I say, I guess it's good they finally saw the light. But I'm not going to give this couple a proverbial medal or lavish them with praise for finally seeing the fucking obvious.
And like I say, relaying these stories doesn't help either. At this point anyone maga who hasn't realized the error of their ways can only learn through the direct consequence of their action. They won't change their mind because some maga HUD employee three states over got screwed. That's not how this works.
"It's okay to be wrong. You made a mistake, it was a bad choice, but it's not the end of the world. We can fix it."
Acknowledging a mistake only works if you them stop making that mistake. And I'm not convinced these or similar people will do that.
How many red flags have they ignored? They didn't give a shit about other people being screwed over by him. It was only when it affected them that they started to question. He worked for the Federal government and was still bashing the shit out of it. They ignored the January 6th riots. They voted for the this THREE times. This is all typical maga idiocy, and the reason why we're in such a mess.
I mean, I guess it's good they're seeing reality now. But holy shit. And these stories are basically pointless. Anyone who hasn't pulled their heads out of their asses by now won't because of other people's accounts like this. The only thing that will change their minds is personal hardships. And even then it's a toss-up.
Exactly this. I have in-laws who used Medicaid to have multiple kids because they were so poor. Roll on ten years and they have a bit more money and constantly rage about all the 'deatbeat mooches' having kids via Medicaid.
They have ads on the home screen on their streaming boxes too. Maybe not as bad as their TVs, but definitely bad enough. Roku has getting steadily worse for quite a while, but their products have really gone to shit over the last several years.
For those looking for an alternative solution, one option is to buy a cheap Onn streaming box (which runs Google TV), and then side-load an open source launcher onto it. No more ads, but still a nice user experience.
The only wrinkle is that you'll need to use Adb and hook it into your PC one time and use some terminal commands to get the new launcher to stick around after device restarted. But it's not too bad.
I think you're right. The eagerness of people to ingest the latest unregulated fad of the moment never ceases to amaze me. I know people who are popping tons of peptide shit, and it's 'fine' because "it's all amino acids". Strong "it's got electrolytes!" Idiocracy vibes.
The problem is, people take these unregulated supplements and then "feel amazing". Their energy and focus levels increase. But they don't think about the side effects.
You know how I got my energy and focus levels up? By cutting back on processed food and sugars, drinking more water, focusing on my gut health, exercising a bit more, and finding ways of reducing stress levels. Not easy, but it works. And no snake oil supplements (or their side effects) required.
I can't speak for the pro series. I had as Pixel 1 that was very good.
But then for cost and headphone jack reasons I switched to the a series when my Pixel 1 died. Both I and friends and family have had various Pixel 'a' series phones, and we've all seen the quality get progressively worse. Batteries, gyros, cameras, screens, you name it. I wouldn't recommend that specific line of phones.
I don't think it even needs to get that complicated.
Until they issue a patch you can just open the Amazon app from the home screen. It only does the affiliate nonsense when you launch it from the app list.
Also, you can disable the Smart Feed app. That apparently fixes it too.
Bit of a click-baity headline (though not your fault OP).
The sub-heading is clearer:
