  • To this guy who very likely will never see this comment:

I get through my day without using an LLM quite nicely. In fact, I don't use ChatGPT or any other form of generative garbage at all. Ever.

  • Reminds me of The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy where someone said something mundane in English, the phrase got captured by an instant microsingularity, and then by complete freak accident transmitted to a species where that exact phrase means a grave insult in their own language.

  • Wat.

    Just loads in for me.

  • I wonder what's stopping someone from just making a screen grab of a Google Maps satellite view and feeding it to one of the many AI image generators.

  • I could care less. Make do.

  • Sucks to be you.

  • Then go play a videogame with guns.

  • You know, I was VERY tempted to write it that way, but decided against it at the last moment.

  • Ah. He must be a KDE contributor as well.

  • The only reason why there would be gun free zones is if there is a gun problem requiring gun free zones.

Remove guns and you remove the need for gun free zones.

Make sure your society doesn't contribute to mental health problems too and you pretty much have eliminated both the access to weapons and the conditions under which a person would want to start pointing one at people.

  • I want to say the Bionicle fandom, but LEGO has made it clear to everyone that if your project looks too professional they'll shut you down.

Anyway, Bionicle fans have some incredible skillsets.

  • People seem to be forgetting how absurdly huge space is. And in all three dimensions.

Unless there is a mitigating circumstance where a task force is absolutely necessary, ships (especially the larger ones) would be far apart from each other.

But let's say Starfleet has a ridiculous amount of ships. Some absurd number we know they don't have. Like a billion ships. If you were to evenly space (hah) them out over the most canon chart we have of The Federation, there'd still be tens of lightyears between one ship and the next.

And that's just if we limit the ships to Federation territories. If we account for ships doing many exploration missions in far-flung areas thr distances become even more enormous.

  • Yeah, og only more companies thought that way. Most seem to only care about making money in the short term.

  • It would help if they also supported Linux and open source.

  • Just like back in 2008 the investors will try to fake it until they can't and the entire economy will crash over the whole world.

China making a crap ton of RAM won't help with that.

  • I'm not from the USA. I was speaking generally.

  • Then why did you take your car?

"I'm going home because I didn't find a parking space" sounds like someone who drove there entirely alone. Look how much space a car takes up for just one person.

  • Most of what you write comes from a very simple yet flawed argument. Everything else you say based on that is just word salad, and I don't feel like it's deserving of any respect.

And your best argument so far has been one where you put words in my mouth, so I can't say you're doing anything in good faith either.

  • I mean... Also assuming this is all real, and the rushed schedule doesn't produce low quality botched RAM sticks that die in six months.

When it comes to products from China, they can be incredible; unprecedented quality for so much cheaper! Or they can be exactly what everyone says they are and end up in a landfill after a short amount of time.

    It's quite the coin flip.

Seeing all those PADDs on a captain's desk does look out dated.
