  • Bro I use double dashes all the time--often to make little asides like I'm doing right now--and have been using them for years. It was just something I picked up by reading actual books. Now AI comes around and I'll occasionally be falsely accused as one just because of that one small aspect of my writing style. Feels bad man

  • Just because it's a well-written answer doesn't automatically mean it's AI. There's a couple syntax errors/typos in there that lead me to believe that at the very least it wasn't JUST a straight up copy/paste from ChatGPT

  • Okay so after reading the article, the funds had already been taken away prior to her recent passing. The headline however makes it sound like they were vultures who didn't even wait for her body to be cold before they came in and denied millions of dollars to school children. Don't get me wrong, I'm still upset that the money is gone from a good cause, but this kind of misleading wording just keeps chipping away at whatever faith I still have in the media

  • He's a mildly-popular Twitch streamer who's more open about his politics than most and he tends to be leftist. That's pretty much it. People can (and have) get into arguments over him and his views but you can say that about anything online these days. I think the reporter was just surprised that a supposedly popular leftist was unknown by another supposedly leftist political candidate, as if they previously thought we all shared the same hive mind or something

  • To be fair, that is what predators tend to do (especially the human ones now that I think about it...).

    Also, while I mostly agree with your assessment of Hasan and don't really pay any attention to him myself, he IS at least mildly popular (or at least well-known) on the internet in the sphere of political streamers and I think the reporter was just surprised that what their data suggested (roughly 1% of the American population follow him on some platform or another) didn't add up to what reality is actually like (this serious political candidate who probably doesn't go on Twitch that often, or at all, has never even heard of him)

    Overall, yeah I'm kinda surprised they even turned this into an article. Seems pretty inconsequential no matter what way you look at it

Some of that is due to retcons in the real world and some of it can be justified in-universe simply by the fact that their stage is the entire Milky Way galaxy, there's a LOT of wiggle room to be found there

  • Jesus fucking Christ, it's like they're TRYING to embarrass our entire nation from every single department possible. 10 years ago this would've amused me more than anything, even if only slightly. But now? Everyday is just another brand new stupid example of our own incompetence with somewhere around a 50/50 split between embarrassing and infuriating. I've never been a gung-ho, America-first, capital-P "Patriot", but I never would've even conceived that we would sink so low so quickly; every new rock-bottom simply becomes a new surface-layer to be strip-mined of any remaining shred of dignity, empathy, and humanity

  • So there's only one relatively close to me and after checking their website it seems like they don't have it. In fact they've only got 6 food items listed. 3 of them are exactly the same thing (SJÖRAPPORT), 2 are ALMOST the same (SILL DILL vs SILL SENAP), and the last one is a bag of peeled shrimp. So really there's only 3-4 items available depending on how you count. Either way, none of these items are high priority for me personally, so it's not like I'm devastated or anything, but this just goes back to my point that availability isn't always guaranteed
