  • You say it's just in the hostory books, but unfortunately for me, I see one almost every time I drive anywhere longer than 10 minutes. It's entirety possible I'm seeing the same guy more frequently because we live close to each other, but checking the license plates on them when I can, I've seen no less than half a dozen unique Cybertrucks in the last couple years, mostly along the same commute to and from work (no highways)

  • I agree with the sentiment, and I really don't want to be an asshole here... but are you SURE you didn't have time to do a second take on that sign? Don't get me wrong, I'm bad at spacing out big letters too, it usually takes me a couple tries to get it right, but this doesn't look like they even made an attempt. It honestly looks like they wrote "No data centers" but then went back to try to squeeze in "AI". And like... it probably didn't take that long to make it in the first place, were they just completely out of paper and this was their one chance? Even more frustrating though, there were almost certainly dozens more (better) signs that the article could've used but THAT one, which was clearly a mistake, was the one they went with?

  • "Peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals" are not the air-tight source you seem to think they are. A lot of them have become echo chambers that largely seek to only acquire more citations for the sake of having more citations. I'm not saying they all deserve to be thrown in the trash or anything, but likewise I'm also not going to blindly believe whatever they're/you're telling me just because they've got "Journal" on the front cover. Here, check out this blog post, it goes into some of the history of Academic Journals and how they've fallen from grace over the last several decades. Oh also they're quickly becoming inundated with AI, both in terms of submissions and even the review process itself, and personally I'm not going to let an AI tell me if AI is good or bad

  • The Statue of Liberty USED to be one of its greatest symbols, nowadays its all about getting your panties in a bunch over some culture war bullshit with the other side of the aisle. Only difference is one side thinks they're protecting 'the American Dream' (even though the fantasy they have in their heads never existed in the first place), and the other side (which has legitimately been marginalized for decades if not centuries) just wants the equality they've been promised since birth.

    Regardless to all the above, we the American people have proven time and time and time and time again that we truly do not care about anyone other than ourselves and our immediate families, not even the rest of the country and certainly not anyone else in the world. If it means having to make any change from the status quo, the vast majority of voters will simply abstain and push the issue onto the next generation. God I'm fucking tired of living here
