  • “Quadruple” moderation is how federation has to work by design. Also the forth “moderation layer” isn’t even a layer, and it actually promotes good moderation because mod logs are public, a moderator can’t go on a power trip and try to cover it up.

    The post reads as if some one wired up an AI agent to serially repost content to Lemmy and the agent is having difficulty accomplishing its goal because people would rather have less content than no content.

    It reminds me of the agent a few months ago that went on diatribes and doxxed the repo owner when it’s push requests were being denied on GitHub for being low quality

    Lemmy.world is defederated from hexbear, Lemmygrad, and beehaw so maybe try blocking those instances if it’s too much for you

The whole point of mastodon is the freedom to move without losing followers. If your whole following is predicated on the actions of moderators, that’s not healthy for the network

  • If the soldier is pulling the trigger on civilians then yes they are responsible. If they are pulling the trigger against enemy warfighters in an unjust war, then the buck stops at the CiC. It should not be up to individual soldiers on whether a certain operation is just or not.

  • The soldiers duty to refuse to carry out illegal orders such as slaughtering civilians notwithstanding, yes I think volunteering to fight for your country, even in an unjust war, is service.

    The saying goes that the fish rots from the head down. There are stops all down the chain of command that could prevent soldiers from fighting unjust wars, and that’s where the blame should lie.

    Sadly the US military has a lot of corruption and pushing back on a CO or refusing an illegal order can end your career in the military or worse. That doesn’t mean I blame the people at the end of the chain, I blame the people at the head. This includes Obama’s illegal drone strikes on targets in Syria and Yemen and various other atrocities and not just Trumps latests

  • Nintendo offered mail in rebates with proof of purchase back in the day. I have no idea if that applied to OPs story but it wasn’t the store offering the rebate in these cases
