  • I really, really would like to love and support my home state but the GOP is making it really difficult. Memphis, my home town, gave birth to blues, soul and rock'n'roll, was pivotal in the civil rights movement, gorgeous view to the Mississippi River and a world renowned BBQ scene. Nashville has a thriving nightlife and a music scene of its own owing to its numerous music halls. Chattanooga and Knoxville are their own little nuggets of Tennessee charm. There's also the natural beauty: Great Smoky Mountains and the associated national park, numerous smaller state parks, swimmable lakes (e.g. Percy Priest Lake), and so forth. This isn't even including the extensive Native American history.

Instead of using it's natural beauty and rich, though troubled, history to make Tennessee a center of the southern U.S., Bill Lee and his Republican-led (i.e. Trumpist stronghold) state house makes it a living hell for everyone. xAI was allowed to install poisonous gas turbines right next to poor, black neighborhoods. ICE and the National Guard were given carte blanche to roam our streets. The south is, truly, a backwards backwater.

  • Napalm Death though the current line-up has been the same since their third album with sad exemption of Jesse Pintado who passed away in 2006.

  • Hypertension, perhaps

  • Bear culture

  • It's a bit wonky in some parts but the ending ties the whole thing together. Definitely give it a read.

  • Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Some of best science-fiction literature ever penned.

However, the author, while a superb writer, is an asshole.

  • He owned an E-Bike shop but supported one of the most oil-friendly presidents in history?

Forget shooting yourself in foot, he shot his own wallet.

  • The idea wasn't about cleaning your PC but rather cooling it. The idea was that since mineral oil hydrophilic (is that the right word?), it could do a better job than air or water cooling. However, as other have pointed out, it was a massive hassle with marginal benefits.

    1. The first four words of my comment were "I'm no Maoist" quite clearly signaling that I don't affiliate myself with Maoism.
    2. The rest of my comment was in reference to Mao's Land Reform Movement (i.e. those oh-so famous landlord killing memes). You're thinking about Mao's Cultural Revolution and The Great Leap Foward which were separate incidents that did, indeed, kill and starve many innocent people. Mao was tyrant and despot but no one, absolutely no one, missed the landlords. Well, maybe, expect the ones that fled to Daddy Chiang.

This goes beyond not liking a Swedish finance app. This is about the dystopian absurdity of financing your rent payment. It sounds like a plot point from a William Gibson novel. You're borrowing money, that you'll have to pay back with interest, to have a roof over your head; a roof that is not even yours. Klarna would very happy to lend you that money so they can profit from debt and the landlord(s) will be happy because they're still making money without providing value. You don't have be Marxist to see why this is a problem.

  • I'm no Maoist but those 'land reforms' are starting to sound pretty good right now.

  • I would highly advise against this! That would be a health and fire hazard waiting to happen. Isopropyl is good for cleaning your electronics but I wouldn't bathe them in it.

If you still want to try submerging your PC in some kind of liquid, you can try mineral oil. This was a trend in PC building back in the early-mid 2010s but seems to have lost momentum around 2017/2018. I've never done this myself so research thoroughly. Other than that, stick to water-cooling.

Also, at the risk of sounding like an asshole, I would advise quitting smoking.

  • Same. Had to read that headline twice just to be sure.

  • Well, I'm bummed that I had to find out who this fucker is and that he's running for governor for my hellhole of a home state. But I will use this knowledge to not vote for him at this year's midterms.

  • The decentralized model gives it a good head start against financial interest and populist mass adoption.

  • Thomas Sankara would like to know your location

  • Refused

  • Surprising considers that it's parent company Epic (yes, of Fortnite Unreal Tournament and GoW fame) has a pro-AI stance.

  • This decision was made based on a Youtube video, made by some rando with Trump-friendly views, directed at Minnesota's most visible minority.

This should go without saying but: Youtubers. Should. NOT. Influence. Policy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but not even Rush Limbaugh or Alex Jones ever had this much sway on influencing policy.

  • We Gen Z get called "the first digital kids" but I clearly remember the last days of physical and optical media. My sister and I would burn CDs with songs we would download from LimeWire.

  • Well, comrades, you know what this means:
