  • More likely the US government will pay them $125k for their trouble in this "political witchhunt."

  • True, but it makes headlines and looks good for the party and that's all that matters. Actual substance is so overrated.

  • The difference? American data collection is done for profit, and Chinese data collection is done for control. Pick your poison.

No the difference is that these US companies give the US government a backdoor into everyone's data (while also harvesting it all for profit) while the Chinese apps don't in favor of giving the Chinese government a backdoor into everyone's data. They don't give a shit about propaganda and brainwashing occurring which is why they'll allow the app to stay up in the US just so long as it's an American company controlling it here because then they can install their backdoor for the US government.

  • Our old one did this same thing so I just unscrewed the handle and flipped it over and used a different, self tapping screw on the broken side and it held together for another few years until we replaced it.

  • Well at least now you can work in a hands-on environment and hopefully use your marketing skills to manipulate your management chain into doing what's right for you or the company.

  • Where'd you work though? This guy is going to work for Walmart equivalent of home improvement stores. After working at Walmart myself as a first job, I quickly grew to detest the place and quit twice before actually leaving (they talked me into staying the first time with a transfer and raise). It's a soul sucking environment without the high pay and benefits that OP is walking away from. I hope it works out but the phrase "the grass is greener on the other side" exists for a reason.

  • Assisted suicide is available in some areas. We've had it here in Oregon for a while. The scary part is when your mind goes, you can't partake in this process because they can't verify that it's what you really want because you're no longer of sound mind even though what's remaining into a husk of the person that used to occupy your body and your future will be full of confusion, isolation, and angry outbursts at everyone around you.

  • Yeah I didn't even refer to nursing homes in my comment because those aren't obtainable for people that didn't save up enough to spend $5k-$10k per month on them. I've also visited them and witnessed all the same things you mention. What I was referring to was living in your own house that you can barely still afford while being unable to really care for yourself.

  • The key is moderation between enjoying life today and saving for the future. What's your plan for the future if you do live to your 60s and 70s but your body fails you, you can't work, and don't have any money banked?

I have real life examples of this in my life and it is not pretty. Most state and federal programs won't help you until you're literally at rock bottom broke living alone and disabled in your home, which they will take from you after you die to recoup the money they're spending just to barely meet your basic necessities and maybe have a nurse come and check on you a few hours a week.

  • IMDB would probably be a good start.

  • So no land moccasins? What about air moccasins?

  • It's not a "fake clone" it's a "fan-made fork" based off some anonymous redditor's statement? It has the "OG encodes" but they're named differently and use different trackers?

The top comment on your link:

Use whatever site you like, but don't pretend to be some authority on the subject while patronizing people, especially when you're exclusively using public sites.

  • And we definitely wouldn't see his name and face plastered in the news.

  • If Mr. Fantastic was an insane cat.

  • Yeah I'd love to hear why they think a broken wire/connector means a Bambu can't be repaired or which model they're referring to when they claim "your printer stops working right when the new model comes out." Just a bunch of fear mongering.

I don't recall Bambu ever charging people $1000 for an unassembled printer kit made from 3D printed parts with specs rivaling the $150 Ender 3.

  • You might check out aoulseek for music. There is a surprising amount of content available there.

  • You should also know RARBG shut down some time ago so you're using a fake clone site there too.

  • I'm literally considering installing the IMDB app (I don't even know if they have one) because I've been doing this a lot lately.

  • Or during the movie that you're both seeing for the first time, "Why is that person doing/saying that?"

I don't fucking know! Why don't we watch and see what happens?!
