  • When I was in grade school (in the 90s) we didn't have any police officers at the school unless something happened requiring a police response like a bomb threat. We didn't have metal detectors or any of the security theater that they use to brainwash children into being compliant with prison-like conditions.

    Guess what? Nobody got shot or murdered in any way, and the only violence we ever dealt with was an occasional fight between students. But this was during the height of violent crime in the USA.

  • Just be sure you have the college stuff sorted out first, like all the registering and scheduling and learning where things are, to make sure that important primary mission is successful. With the college bureaucracy stuff sorted out and working, you can put those deal-breaking hassles behind you and focus on doing more cool stuff.

    If there are bars and places where bands play, be sure to check those out. Sometimes you can meet cool people, and find out about parties. College parties are the best. College towns are the easiest places to get laid also, so be sure to have sex whenever you can.

  • VR is definitely better than widescreen wrap-around monitors for gaming immersion. I've tried both and they are both great but VR is better. I noticed that I could drive significantly better in Assetto Corsa the first time I tried in VR mode, and I could actually get close to winning for a change. But it was a PITA to get working
