  • Not impossible, several options are still out there if you actually search for "non smart TV" on retailers' websites.

Sceptre was one brand that made decent non-smart TVs but they seem to be vanishing off the market now. Many used ones still on ebay and other secondhand markets. Their website still shows a bunch of TV models but the retail links turn up empty.

  • About 40% of Mississippi voters voted for Kamala Harris. Additionally, about 38% of the state's residents are black.

  • That's what she said

  • I've heard enough about Nextdoor that I never want to have an account for their site

  • Yes the far-right astroturfing is becoming very blatant lately. I've noticed a recent worsening trend

  • Nope I have zero concerns about "ghost guns" because the people with 3D printers are usually not in poverty, and poverty is the root cause of most crime. And because of how many already manufactured guns are in circulation, it's like a drop in an ocean.

  • Maybe he was on PCP like that guy from Wu Tang who cut off his wang

  • That much Big Brother spying activity is not necessary to achieve a similar goal. Combine a smart cap for pill bottles with an alarm reminder system. Smart pill bottle cap can show if the bottle has been opened that day or some such type of simple usage tracking. Alarm on the phone or watch, and/or something like that on their refrigerator for reminders.

  • I think this is the microphone spies coming out in the open. Google recently filed some similar creepy tech patent if I recall correctly. It's the same scheme of recording all audio all day, and they would offer you a list of important things to remember or notes on the day.

I never believed in the past when the nay-sayers denied that them listening to our device's microphones all day was feasible. I'd already seen too many instances of the audio spying being used to direct ad content to people. They are voice-printing us all from every available audio source. They already know when you say something in the presence of someone else's phone.

People really have to break these chains of phone addiction, and just allowing them to do what they want on our phones.

  • "302 senators have died in office in the past" ... really shows how the Senate has too many old bastards staying in office too long. They should be retired while they fade away into death, instead of making important decisions for the country that they will never have to worry about the consequences of.

  • I've done this with another brand of 18v battery fan. But I used a couple of bungee cords to strap it down to the hood, stays on through bumps and hills.

The only drawback is when you pilot the mower through a cloud of dust and it blows in your face

  • Put them down next to a turd so that the camera can only see the turd

  • That sounds like a confession of committing a criminal conspiracy

  • The "AI boom" concept doesn't make sense to me. What do they think we need the "AI" for? I find that I don't need it for anything, and as I'm "being left behind" without using it, I still wonder what they think I should need it for.

In my experience the "AI" chatbots are useful for people who don't know how to do anything. But I've spent my life learning how to do everything I ever wanted to learn how to do, so I just don't need that.

  • Here's the larger problem: other people will have this bullshit turned on and the microphones will receive the speech audio of everyone in their vicinity. It's fully breaking consent to be recorded for others.

I do not care what they might say about "listening only to the owner" or whatever they will claim. If it's recording with a microphone, then it will receive sound.

  • Big Brother Google is always listening, and probably would sell anything they've recorded to make a buck.

Maybe a lot of people in 2-party consent required jurisdictions should write in to google to state that they explicitly decline to consent to being recorded by google's bullshit

  • That sucks and all, but I'm glad I don't need any apps or a cellphone to use my car. Offline car is best.

  • The evil fat orange man archetype.

Lynch really made the Harkonnens appropriately horrific, better than the new movies in this and some other aspects IMO.
