If you are an omnivore foodie, gumbo. It impresses me, the depth and complexity of flavor in gumbo is delicious and very "me" if that makes sense, so it is something of myself I am giving to you.
If you are vegan foodie, a cream of mushroom soup made with cashew cream and fancy mushrooms, and some fresh sourdough bread (THE bread, as my kids put it) with a small salad of something fresh from the garden.
If you are my penultimate child and her girlfriend, apparently kimchi grilled cheese, I made them that once and they kept making it forever after, it is a ridiculously delightful sandwich.
Always something I personally like, for sure. I am a pretty experienced home cook at this point though. If you are not, I recommend the menu "Foods of Michochuan are Forever" on NPR, it has something for the meat eaters and the vegans, is outrageously good, uses ingredients that are available, and can be staged ahead of time and just reheated and make rice day of, so that you can enjoy yourself not be cooking all day. The soup I cheat with canned beans and canned tomatoes it's great.
I think the Bruderhof people are the most authentic Christians in the modern world. They are communist (live in community without personal property) and are a cult of Christ.
This was true for me as a woman as well. Like when I was younger I was middle good looking, maybe average, but as I got older I moved up because so many people got fat or let go. Like just by maintaining I got relatively better looking compared to peers.
And I can confirm, good looking and fit guys my age are not common but so hot!
Emotional regulation. Better pay, if you have been able to work consistently. Kids older, easier to deal with. Happier, and can make better decisions because we are not so hotheaded.
How old? I am rapidly nearing 60 and have considerably less pain than when younger because the migraines have nearly vanished and I do yoga instead of running. No chronic pain yet.
Perhaps having negative expectations helped as well, I was sure by now I'd have osteoporosis from early eating disorder, pain in joints from years of ballet, none of these shoes have dropped yet. I do feel weaker than my 40s which were my peak but not weaker than my 30s. And so, so much less pain with fewer migraines.
I'm small of bust, but therefore don't bra often (except at work) so occasionally get a look, I am neither flattered nor offended. I work on my body but boobs are just luck or money, not an accomplishment.
Woah there. I agree with part of this but so much is more a "use it or lose it" situation. I'm almost 60, husband a couple years older, we still fuck every day and I get off at least once a day still. I do think it's muted a bit, slightly less intense usually but way more multiples, so it kind of works out.
Did gain weight at menopause that stuck - sort of gamed that by starting out underweight so I'm still not fat, but agree wholeheartedly it doesn't fall right off like it did, part of that I think is my worry that if I lose it my bones will suffer, so I don't want to diet. Still in good shape just smack in the middle of healthy BMI when I was aiming for the bottom of it.
Teeth are STUPID, we should not get the final set so young.
Everything takes so, so long to heal now.
My mom said the worst thing about getting old was that you could not make plans. She planned to come up here to see Tab Benoit with a group of friends but by the day of the show two of them had died.
I haven't been the disliked person (surely not universally liked but widely liked so far) but I have sort of disliked a couple of reasonably competent coworkers - so not disliked because they sucked or dragged us down - just personality clash - and I have learned to ignore it because it's not predictive of how well their work will get done.
Our IT department would listen to any ideas BTW, it's getting more corporate (I joined when it was a start up but it's been a dozen years) but not to the point of being heirarchish yet. I am sort of outspoken too and have found the wild west chaos of a startup to be my best fit, may have time to do it once more before retirement if this place gets too beaurocratic.
By remembering how bad the past sucked. How much better off I am as a woman now, than at almost any time in the past - even if we are going in the wrong direction, still better off than even my mom was. My mom was alive for the integration of schools, alive when women could not open bank accounts in her state, we have made plenty of progress. Violence is less than 1/10th of what it was here when I was a kid.
Yes inequality sucks, because there are now enough resources for everyone. But it doesn't suck like the middle ages, or the 1930s, or any time before that.
