  • Physical idleness, overeating, smoking, drinking. You can dodge a lot of the risks just by never getting fat, staying active and being moderate/sparing with food, drink, and drugs.

Gluttony and sloth. I would also say wrath, being mad all the time is bad not just for those around you but also hard on your own body.

  • I am here for cat pictures, cocktails, sourdough, lifestyle stuff and the political leaning is a welcome break from our media here so no it doesn't really bother me personally.

Do I think echo chambers are problematic in general? Yes. So in a more general sense I do agree - it's important to be able to handle nuance and talk to people out in the world, and yes, online. But in the current media climate I just experience it more as a breath of fresh air.

  • Online banking since 1999 same bank.

  • Removing the laces from the shoes of the person next to you, and using them for your shoes?

Tying them to the shoes of the person next to you?

  • Who knows? I can only say that they universally sucked. I pedal away on this cruiser E-bike though, it is a ridiculously pleasant ride, and fun. I use it daily, and not to be virtuous in any way. Because it's easier than taking the car in some ways, and not as slow as walking. Great big basket holds 2 big grocery bags.

  • Live music is performance art. I will take the experience over just listening to a recording anytime I can, and that is where my music budget has always gone.

I don't like big arena shows at all though. With you on that. Bars and small venues, and once a year a festival but not a big one. I want to see the performance not a jumbotron.

  • The Bicycle. My God I how hated to ride a bike. So freaking uncomfortable to sit on, hurts my lady parts and sweaty and you have to pedal so hard to make it move, I always would rather walk. Just walk like we are made to do.

I rode an electric bike at a 'rodeo' the city sponsored to promote their e-bike raffle and oh wow what fun, so comfortable the seat, so easy to pedal and it moves right along. I did not win a voucher but spent the money on one and I love it, it's my daily commuter vehicle, and I let people ride it and so many have the same transformation.

  • Agreed. I am so glad my kids are grown, but I can still remember personally walking to school so early. It's nonsense. Also here if they were sensible they'd run school through the summer (when it's too hot to do much) and give the kids long winter and spring breaks instead (when there is more going on here). But nobody can accuse the last 20 years of Florida's government of being sensible. Not since Lawton Chiles have we had an actual good governor. Locally it's more hit & miss but state level it's been a string of misses.

  • Yeah but it's dark in the morning anyway. Elementary school here starts at like 7am, that is a bigger problem than the DST. I thought they hated it because they switched it back in January? If it just never changed I'm sure it would not feel so shocking.

Already we do 8 months of DST and only 4 of EST here.

  • Lunch most important nutritionally, supper most important socially. I always cook supper at home for the family, but try to get more of my calories earlier in the day as that feels best.

  • I'm glad to hear they got better!

  • We saw J Roddy Walston and the Business every time they came through, such a powerful live act and nice guys.

We have seen Bleachers a lot, Antonoff can't dance to save his life but 2 drummers and always a good time.

Leon Bridges every time he has played here. Amazing, great show.

When I was a teenager I was driving to LA across I -10 at the same time the Descendants were on their tour so I saw them here, then in New Orleans, then in California.

If I like an artist I will go to their show, live music is one of the best things in the world.

  • That's funny, I saw REM exactly once and that was one too many times. Way back when they were getting started. One of the worst shows I have ever seen.

  • But they changed it suddenly in January, instead of just not changing back in the fall. That was dumb.

  • We keep DST for more months than ST so I think more people like it more.

I kinda think it runs backwards, making the sun set even earlier in the clock day during winter. So much more dispiriting to come home in the dark than to go to work in the dark.

My argument for ending it is that you can't make days longer or shorter by moving the clock around, but I think we should just keep adding weeks onto DST and taking them away from ST until eventually it's just DST. But settling on either scheme would be ok, better than switching back and forth.

  • Scavengers Reign was amazing.

    Arcane

    Sweet Tooth

    Andor

I can wholeheartedly, enthusiastically, recommend any of those.

And The IT Crowd is one of the funniest things I have ever seen, if you can find that please watch it.

  • No.

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think y'all are really trying to sleep with all your friends, right? You do have friends who are like sisters not people you can see as partners?

I don't have a best friend who isn't my husband but am friends with straight men who aren't my husband. My old boss comes over sometimes, we hang out, we are absolutely not into each other in 'that way'. The brother of my ex, same. Just good friends.

Also, if you've already established that your boyfriend doesn't care, why are you asking? If it's his belief that all guys are absolutely indiscriminate and would always try with any of their friends, maybe ask him if that's how he feels about all his friends who are women?

  • Oh I was maybe 22, 23, loudly singing along with Elton John as he belted out "love I feel it in my haaaands, I can tell by the things I would do with another maaaan!" when I realized that probably was not something someone would sing back then. It literally had never occurred to me that he could be singing anything else, and it still sounds like that to me.

Love lies bleeding is the NAME of the song, but I'd never heard it announced or seen it.

Love lies bleeding in my hands

Oh it kills me to think about you with another man
