  • You aren't ever going to run out of things to do. Literally - there will never come a time when everything you could do is done. Some tasks are projects that have a beginning and end, others don't, they are ongoing work. But in any case there is always more you could do, more than you will be able to do.

Write a list, if you are afraid you will forget. I put reminders in my phone too. Prioritize your list, do the more urgent or important things.

  • Wait, even if the baby is raised by a diverse set of people? Or they just prefer what they are exposed to regularly?

I can easily imagine tribalism being easy to fall into - little kids love sorting things into categories - but can't really see any biological benefits at all to racism, can't imagine why it would be innate?

  • You are right, I ought to have said the benefits outweigh the risks for me, that the good is more than the harm not that it's universally harmless.

  • I didn't say I am not addicted. Physical addiction, sure, because I get the headache when quitting. But as a drug I like it and it's been an overall benefit to my life and health. Fewer migraines with daily coffee than without. Meaning even after a couple of years off it, increased incidence of migraine if I abstain from all caffeine. Reduced incidence if I use it daily.

My ex wrecked his teeth smoking pot, so I do not think smoking anything is good for you. But no I wouldn't judge, whatever works for you. And no I don't think cannabis is bad, certainly ought not be illegal I just hate the effect. Blah feeling, irritated not high just feel tired and slow.

  • Coffee not powder caffeine - I know the refined drug caffeine is too strong to safely dose it. I'm not snorting caffeine or slamming monster drinks.

ETA Coffee and I also like iced green tea. You are going to argue that unsweetened iced green tea is also a killer drink?

I am just not that worried about it, based on decades of use without apparent personal harm, and evident personal benefit. I enjoy the coffee and tea and the "high" from them, which I interpreted as the point of OP's question about substances.

  • Coffee has never been proven harmful, and may be protective for the brain. I quit caffeine a couple times when younger for months and (once past the initial withdrawal headache) all that happened was I got more migraines and gained a couple of pounds, saw no benefits.

    So no.

Alcohol I practice moderation, once or twice a week but never, ever, ever an everyday drinker. That I've taken years off and didn't feel better but not worse like when I tried no caffeine.

So usually no on that as well but I do sometimes go a month or two without.

I don't do any other drugs.

  • Depends, but generally yes. It's just too hard to screen all creatives for purity, some people are only good at one thing, but so good at that one thing. So if you don't let them do that one thing, it's like there's nothing left of them that is good. I probably won't give them my money, but as far as reading or listening to their stuff, enjoying their art, yeah I can. Can admit they are good in at least one way, if they are.

  • I get a flu shot every year because I had the FLU once. I was about 25. Before I had the all-caps FLU, I couldn't understand how there could be a flu epidemic that killed many people, isn't it just a bad cold, a fever?

No. My whole family got it and couldn't get out of bed, I am kinda surprised none of us did die. It was a week of just laying in the living room together so I could nurse the baby and we managed to get enough to drink somehow and change the diapers, but barely. I really did feel like I would die. I do now understand how flu can kill someone. Like if I didn't need to keep the baby alive I probably would have gotten too dehydrated and died.

  • Yeah, same. Every day, no matter what happens, I wake up happy not to have to go to school. For decades now, the knowledge I don't have to go to school has brought me joy daily. It was the worst "job" of my life so far, by far. College not as bad (I did work and have kids between, went as an adult) but work has still been better, and certainly pays better.

  • At least I am paid to sit at the computer. Hated being a kid, no freedom. Adult, responsibility, sure, but paid to work, go where I want, choose how to spend my time and honestly plenty of choice in HOW I get my paid work done.

  • I like cm and meters, also like feet and inches.

When I make bread, it's grams and kg for sure.

My phone tells me the temp in C, but I understand F better.

I freaking love the cups to pints to quarts to gallons thing though. It's archaic and beautiful. Gallon divides easily into 4 quarts, 8 pints, 16 cups. 128 oz. I like that doubling pattern. 8 pints in a gallon 8 ounces in a cup, it's just fundamentally pleasant in some way.

  • I didn't have the choice of not working, and housewife seems a job too, just an unpaid one. So yes in the sense of being motivated by survival, I aspire to make money, but not on a ladder or anything. Every year at the employee eval meeting "what do you want?" "Good interesting work, good pay, flexibility."

School was dreadful until college, which was not as bad. Even if you hated school, you might not hate university. I wouldn't say I liked it but it was not bad.

  • Love, sweet love. Not just for one, but for everyone.

  • No. I just try to work places that don't actively work to harm the world.

  • I feel like if I were trying to manipulate that market I'd be trying to bend reality in a better direction.

  • Externalized costs.

How polluting industries don't have to pay the cost of their pollution, for example.

  • I'm old enough that I get the colonoscopy done as routine care. The doctor I went to said that in her opinion, the starting age for those needs to be rolled back to about 30 and many people should have 5 year interval not 10. Because a lot of what ends up being cancer can just be removed easily and never turn into anything if caught early.

I don't eat much junk and try to get enough fiber, so far so good. But I do think plastics in the environment are hard to avoid and problematic, and agree with that doctor. I go every 5 not 10.

Drinking I do, one drink couple times a week. Gave up most of my diet coke drinking though, iced green tea unsweetened is also no calorie some caffeine and oh so refreshing, has been a good replacement.

Everyone dies. I just want to feel good and healthy as long as possible. Good habits aren't really about living LONGER so much, they are about feeling good while alive.

  • The average earnings per month on onlyfans is something like $3 a month, most people doing that are not making millions, those are outliers.

I would bet AVERAGE earnings for developers are the same or higher.
