  • Declaring the seat vacant due to someone being dead isn’t the same as declaring someone dead. Literally anyone in that situation has the ability to resolve everything by showing up and saying “I am inarguably alive.” Is asking someone in a position of power and governance to have some demonstrable level of not being dead when they are obviously fucking dead just too much for democratic decorum to handle?

  • Quite literally all that needed to happen was to call a dead man’s bluff. Say his seat is vacant due to inability to perform necessary duties of the seat. If he’s not dead/incapable of doing the job then that’s a pretty easy thing to prove. The bar was on the floor, and that was still too high for them to hurdle.
