  • Yes, sounds a bit like from Spaceballs, but I don't think the "Enhance" trope is that old...

  • Same here.Meme is imho somewhat crappy and certainly to un-scientific to be under "science memes".

  • randos shouldn't (ordinarily) be messing with the plants

But the meme doesn't talk about randos.

It specifically mentions the meme creator seeing someone "cleaning invasives", implying that all people involved have some level of competence and know what's going and that there isn't any reason to pretend to be a blind pirate.

  • Yeah, I guessed that much myself by now.

So there is no deeper meaning but the meme is just crappily ill-defined and because of this actually doesn't make sense.

  • I did, even did some additional research trying to clear up ambiguous terms (what's a "conversation area"?) and looked up rules in another country (US) that was referenced by a less confused person.

Meme still doesn't make sense.Should even be the complete opposite. If you recognize it, report invasive species!

If there are hidden context clues I missed, please point them out to me, so that I will learn why I am the moron and not some of the others here that post stuff that just don't make sense given the facts.

Is the original post perhaps satire of some kind?

  • You are probably confusing it with "reservation".

  • I didn’t see it.

    Why?

  • But in that case, pretending to be a blind prirate makes even less sense!

From the National Park Service website:

Report invasive species. Locating invasive species just as they are beginning to invade an area and treating new infestations quickly is a management approach called Early Detection Rapid Response (EDRR). In a national park, let a ranger know when you spot invasive species. They will want to know the location (GPS coordinates if possible), the name of the invasive species, when you saw it, and photos of the species.

So thoroughly note it and report that stuff!

  • ls "conservation land" something special, then?English Wikipedia seems not to know it, and dictionary translated it to "Landschaftsschutzgebiet" in my language, which is like the most unprotective "protection" category there is.Basically you could even build a huge tourist ressort or industrial complex in one of those if you know what you are doing...

  • OK...But would it be a problem if I did?

Or are there areas to protect invasive species? I don't think that's a thing?

    So, still don't get it.

  • Why would you become a blind pirate?

    I don't get it.

  • That also seems to be a port of the orignal "Star Trek" from 1971 that I was thinking about and playing on my calculator back in the 90s! :-)

  • I did a quick search.Game I played on the calculator was Space Trek 48.

Much more refined compared to the simple naval 10x10 naval battle.

Based on Star Trek from 1971.

Major milestone in computer gaming history.

  • l remember a Star Trek themed computer game from the olden times (70s I think) that essentially worked like that.

My HP calculator had a port running which I played extensively during boring lectures while studying.

  • the smallest town I've lived in had a population of ≈20,000 people.

That's ~factor 20 to my somewhat rural home town.Might explain the difference!

First time I visited a store selling computer games in the big city we drove to twice a year was in 1990, first visit of a video game arcade was in 1992 when attending senior high in that same city...

  • Interesting how experiences differ...In our village there was exactly one guy who had an Atari console. It had Pong and some super-simple shooter with a light gun, that was all.Only got it because his dad acquired it cheaply from a friend. We all tried it, had fun for a few hours, but concluded that it was not worth the effort (and the pricetag...)Took another three or four years for gaming to finally become a thing when CPCs and C64s started appearing everywhere.

  • 1984?

You can only play so much Pong...

  • At least you have a cubicle.

Me, who is working in a big open space type of office...

  • The thing that breaks this funny meme a little bit for me, is the fact that medicinal personnel are the only people that get your date of birth shoved at them from every passible discussion, document, blood sample, whatever else already...

I once had to do a hospital department marathon on my birthday. The amount of congratulations and remarks I received out of the blue from complete strangers involved in the process was ridiculous.

No birth-date-related questions necessary at all...
