  • I've read the definition and I guess it's not always as overtly negative, but that's easy to fix with one or two extra words, ie. "self-centered dilettante"

  • Exactly yes thanks. Gatekeeping is one of those words I tend to forget it exists

  • Yes, yes Cambridge, that's right

  • Yesss yes yes yes I think you've nailed it thank you! I didn't know this word, I've read the definition and it suits quite well.

  • It's alright, they may be neurodivergent as I am as well, and everyone has a story and a reason to be and do etc. I'm aware this isn't all there is to this person, I'm not trying to find two words to sum up their existence, just the part of their existence that rubs me off the wrong way.

  • I think pretentious is the closest match but it's still lacking something else. Another commenter suggested two words instead of one, I guess that might be the way to go

  • Probably, I think one word only is too specific. So far I think pretentious fits the bill the best, but it isn't enough to fully describe the type.

  • I guess poser is the closest but it's like an intellectual type of poser. I was hoping for something a bit harsher than just poser though.

  • Sometimes it's useful, but sometimes it's just dumb

  • Not sure if I'm following you correctly but the two main problems, for lack of a better word, getting in the way of religion adopting science is that it requires 1) change the already "proven to work" model they already had for ages and 2) some critical thinking and openness to new ideas. As for point 2, it not be much required, but it's population averages we're talking about, so that makes it more difficult.

  • There's like a gazillion ingredients but yeah hyaluronic acid is close to what you seem to suggest.

The gold standard is in quality, you can get hyaluronic for ten bucks and you can also get it for 80. Not the ingredient itself

  • I'm inclined to think they wouldn't report me, but they would be utterly disappointed if it's a serious crime.

  • All I can think of is the saying that goes, "raise crows and they'll eat your eyes". No idea

  • Pasta, instant noodles, polenta, rice+tuna, bean guiso or stew whatever you call it. Also whatever vegetables in season and cheap, ie, potatoes, pumpkin.

Frozen Basa fillets are the cheapest unprocessed meat too

Search for guiso recipes if you need to learn what to do with legumes. Beauty of guiso is that the amount of ingredients doesn't matter much and you can always add more of what you like and remove what you don't like. You can add any bits of meat to it like sausages, chorizo, beef, chicken, you name it. You can also add any tubers, onion, or pumpkin if you have any, but if you don't have any of these things you can still cook it.

  • Okay so I know not to ask any Patricks or ghosts to do pottery with me from behind. Hate when someone else controls my desktop remotely

  • I haven't noticed anything in particular, which country are you talking about?
