  • I read Fahrenheit 451 quite a while ago but I found it pretty good. Though, I compared it to much to 1984 and found 1984 better.

Agreed though, it feels similarly to today’s age and the future. People nowadays rather be easily entertained (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok etc) than to make an effort and read for enjoyment and education. The government also seems to continuously try to make people avoid reading.

If I remember well there’s this quote in the book to F451:

We bombard people with sensation. That substitutes for thinking

    Which is happening today.

  • A very small closed (with the plastic still around it and intact) water bottle. Did not blame the security people though, they are just doing their jobs. But kind of useless to take it away, it was unopened and bought at a store within the airport (even had the receipt).

  • The more I read about Epic Games and their CEO Tim Sweeney, the more I dislike the company and the guy.

  • I kind of hope some of them managed to find better work and refused Fords.

  • AMD now with their security stuff and Intel with the crashing and quick degradation stuff a while ago. Sigh.

  • No, I have disabled seeing votes. Don’t care about it all.

  • English isn’t my native language, so might have understood it wrong. However, do you mean music that’s about politics?

Got to be Alix Odor - Freund & Feind. I came across this song a while ago with English lyrics and liked it. Basically saying that people in power are the power hungry filths and that the normal civilians are good.

  • Who would’ve known this would happen? Everyone. Meta knew people would use it for the bad and they still decided to go on with it because money.

Hope there will be a way to prevent being recorded, like some tech that disables it or something.

  • So what’s the reason people are targeting Obama? I would have thought with the way things are going, people would target Trump mostly.

  • Going to laugh when it is going to try to fight “AI slop” with something AI… to take down AI.

  • Yeah, everything digitally of course. EagleCool is an app/ software that allows you to easily collect and organize your digital images, videos, gifs, etc. It also allows you to get images from all over the internet. They even have a plugin that allows you to ”one-click” download all the images from Pinterest boards.

EDIT: Forgot to mention it is for both Windows and Mac.

    • Images of movies, tv shows, anime and manga I watched/ read and really like. Got about 33K images categorized in Eagle library.
    • Books, books and books. Unfortunately though, I can’t collect a lot yet. I don’t have my own apartment yet, so no real bookcase. I’ll definitely collect when I got my own place.
    • Digital games that I actually like and want to own through Piracy.
  • Well why would lemmy and reddit be any different? Same format, same people - just on a smaller scale. But it makes any drama more visible.

Well, when the first migration to Lemmy happened (when Apollo got shut down because of Spez and such), Lemmy was quite friendly and welcoming. Debates and discussions weren't as heated, and people debated with a genuine interest in the topic. People claimed Lemmy was better than Reddit, and I remember mentioning that it would change, and a few months later, it did, and I mentioned that too and got heavily downvoted. But behold now; different platform but the same kind of toxic environment.

Though there are still some people who claim Lemmy is better than Reddit, because they don't like Reddit and/or got banned from Reddit.

  • The more read about these bans stuff on Lemmy, the more I just see the similarities between Reddit and Lemmy lol.

    • Random bans because you said something that disagrees with the moderator.
    • Fake modlog to ban users.
    • More hostility these days.
    • People argue just to.. argue. Not to have a genuine debate.

Eventually every social media platform becomes the same kind of environment. Unfortunately.

  • I’m not afraid of the hentai virus but, I’m worried about Hanta virus. There was one person infected with in my city.

Though, not worried for another pandemic (yet).

  • I like AirPods (Pro) but this is a real no-go (for me). If this really gets pushed and in the stores, will not purchase them.

I wish companies would just get away with AI and unnecessary crap like this.

  • Ah, time for some drama entertainment. I already grabbed the popcorn and some drinks.

  • but they are profiting off of hosting Nazi content

This I did not know. Really sad to hear and read, I started to like Substack because I finally found a place where I could read things I'm interested in without other stuff bloating my feed.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

How do you deal with spending money for (unnecessary) luxuries?

  • Asklemmy @lemmy.ml

What does everyone here do when you can’t sleep and are wide awake besides being on phone?

  • Technology @lemmy.world

Is there A way to download all my pins on Pinterest?
