Overall I think it looks fine. I think the spirit of the original is there.
I don't like how shiny some parts are, especially when they're wet. It just looks bad like a simple filter slapped on.
I'll probably play it at some point, but I don't need to play it day one.

My story is more tame compared to the others listed, but still a wild 15 minutes for me.

I was walking from my house to a friend's on a warm April day. As I left my house I saw some rain clouds but figured it was a quick 15 minute walk and I'd be fine, no need for an umbrella.

The first five minutes of my walk, the clouds quickly changed, shit, rain was coming. Sure enough, downpour. Buckets of water coming out of the sky.

Then it paused, for a moment, only for it to start hailing. Bright sun but hail dropping from the sky.

Then nothing. Clear skys, bright sun, a beautiful April day. I picked the exact wrong 15 minutes to go outside.

I assume the person making the dough is also prepping by chopping vegetables and meats, as well as babysitting the machine.

Zero people is impossible (since regardless someone has to load the machine), but reducing from 3 down to 2 or down to 1, that could be possible.

Exactly, the dough alone is a whole job. I found other robots online that pull dough balls directly from a fridge and press them out, so those seem like they would save time.

And those robots also put the pizza into the oven, remove it, and cut it.

if you're doing all three of those steps, dough, toppings and cooking, that would save some time.

You do still need someone for prep, making the dough balls, cutting most ingredients, filling the various machines, etc. But those robots could be helpful at reducing labor costs. Could being the key word.

If these things break I don't know how long they take to fix. Sure people "break" too, but they're easier to swap in.

Kindell previously used Picnic's robots at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, a baseball team.

Usually, he'd need about 10 people to make pizza in such a setup. With the robots that number fell to just two.

So I'm not familiar with the T-Mobile Park setup and I don't know which specific robot they used, but I found a video demo of the Picnic robot. There is no way that system reduces the number of employees from 10 to 2.

First off you don't need 10 people to make a pizza. The robot does the "toppings" step, which is the easiest step. You know how I know it's the easiest step? When you have kids pizza making parties guess which step the kids do? The toppings step.

If he had said it takes 3 people to make a pizza and the robot brings it down to 2, or that the robot speeds up production by 30% or so, that's believable.

Also the pizza making machine is huge. You're losing a whole prep area with that thing. If you're only making pizza then maybe that's ok, but most pizza places I've been too also make sandwiches or other things. A robot making things is a novelty so maybe if you plan a new restaurant with this specifically in mind you can justify the space, but I don't see this fitting into an existing kitchen.

Yeah Discord is definitely seen less, but it's also more niche/focused. As an example I saw a post the other day about Linux support for a game .

Something like politics is more public generally speaking.

Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, they are all shared the same way because they are all shaped the same way.

Plus once sharing images of text became the norm, it happened everywhere.

I mentioned deleted content, but what about private content? Discord content is private, so how is it shared? As an image.

So the reason is historical.

There was a time when Twitter was the source of information. So people got used to linking to Twitter because that's where the conversation started.

However linking to Twitter is an extra step. If I sent you the message,

"Finally! I knew I was right!!! twitter.com/some/tweet/abc123"

then you have to click to know what I'm talking about. If I include inline the tweet "@nasa: Red balloons are stronger than blue balloons" then you have all the context immediately in whatever app you saw the message.

Plus what if that tweet is taken down/deleted? Now I have to explain what was said.

A solution to this is inline previews. Many news sites use this method and many apps provide an inline preview. But this doesn't always work, especially if sites, like Twitter, would prefer you to follow the link.

Another reason is how people use social media sites like Reddit or Lemmy. Many of these apps/sites default or have an option for a "card" view or layout. The card layout is great for images, but not so great for text.

As an example visit https://vger.app/posts/lemmy.world/c/asklemmy , which defaults to the card/large view and just start scrolling mindlessly. If you visit right now you see a large man's face, a bunch of text, and then eventually a Toy Story meme.

Now try, https://vger.app/posts/lemmy.world/c/workreform and do the same. You get nice big pictures, mostly tweets, but big pictures. The giant photo of Mitch catches the eye and you can quickly see the context.

Now try both communities again, but switch to the compact view. It's a completely different experience.

It's also why sometimes you get communities where the title is the same for every post or "I can't think of a title". The title isn't important, it's just images.

That isn't to say that I think one layout over the other is wrong, it's just a different way to explore.

Oh I agree. Generally speaking the bot is following most rules. But the owner of the bot should claim it properly.

I run a number of bots for the communities I moderate. Their job is to post TV/film discussion threads when that particular media is available. Additionally because a bot posts it the bot sees the reply and not me so I can avoid spoilers. However I am only posting threads for things that I will eventually comment on.

When I look at these bots posts, I don't completely hate what they're posting. I think it's a good jumping off point for discussion. But as you said I'm not going to post my comment to an obvious bot post if there is no chance someone might see it and reply.

In a place like the Fediverse that first comment is EVERYTHING. And not just any first comment, it has to be for lack of a better word "human". The current state of AI/LLMs are a lot of things, but they're not human. Not yet at least. Maybe never.

FWIW the account is properly labeled as a bot, but doesn't list an owner.

Per Lemmy.World bot rules,

The owner of the bot and contact details must be mentioned in the bot’s bio.

Other than that it doesn't appear to break any of the bot rules.

I think reaching out to the bot to fill out these details would be appropriate, if somebody wanted to.

In terms of actual content, I agree I don't find it useful and the fact that it is mostly ignored/down voted it would seem most people agree. I would argue the entire point of social media is human to human interaction.

I was unaware Jon Roxton had a Valyrian steel sword.

As Ormund's number two he really should have gotten a little more screen time and back story. It makes more sense that he's able to (essentially) defeat Daemon in battle when it's Valyrian steel vs Valyrian steel.
