  • I cheated and bought Dulce de Leche. Recipes say mix it with butter which is also what my mom said to do.

    I find different brands of Dulce de Leche have different tastes though.

    How did you make the filling?

    This was my first time making them and I read a few different recipes for the filling. I have more shells I can fill.

    I bought one of these to make these cookies.

    Edit: Bringing them to my mom today. She used to make them when she was a child too too.

    The shell reminds me of crispy butter cookies. Vanilla, flour, butter, eggs, baking soda, vinegar, salt, sugar.

    And the filling is sweet. Pairs well with tea for me.

    For those who don't want to watch it, the recipe uses oil and 1/4 cup butter, old fashioned oats instead of other types like steel or quick oats, 1 egg and egg white, and cinnamon. Apparently this makes it less cake like and more like a chewie cookie.
