  • Did you get holiday pay at least? I dont think I got holiday pay even when I worked retail. My husband got 8 extra straight hours, and was paid time and a half for the shift he worked yesterday (unionized labor).

I dont think retail does anything like this. Fuck retail. I know exactly what you went through, and it is why youll never see me shop on a holiday.

  • yes.

  • I love my co-op!

I refilled my bay leaves the other day, with my own jar, and by eye ball approximation the same amount that would come in a small store bought jar. The store bought jar is around $6. From the co-op using my own jar, $0.66. Sixty six cents!

Bulk buy spices are the best. They smell fresher, are cheaper, I love using my jars, and everyone is kind and friendly in the store. Oh, and it just smells amazing in that store. Used to me a Penzy's Spice lover, and still am, but I get all my spices, beans, grains, and other randoms from the bulk section.

  • Not with these tariffs :(

I was getting Caputo flour exclusively, but have had to settle for King Arthur brand this last year.

The first time I made successful filo dough, was with Caputo. The flour is so beautiful.

  • Ive recently started cooking lentils a lot. They are so much faster than beans.

I made a batch with carmelized onions, and now I dont think I am capable of making lentils without carmelizing some onions first.

    Legit amazing.

  • I made some kind of lentil pockets yesterday. Flour based dough I roll out thin like roti, and fold it so it can hold the filling, and pan cook it.

Hasband was starving and took the first one from the pan. To cool it faster, he opened it up so you can see the filling. He goes, look, its an alligator mouth. Now I cant unsee it. Now they are henceforth known, as alligator pockets.

  • ooooo lovely

Im going to make these soon now, saving your recipe :)

  • Ive also never broken a bone, and I was vegan half my life? Still I stay away mostly from dairy. ya fuckin doink, suck ur mother's tit with that attitude

  • aye this is fun!

  • Nice deal hey. I looked up the wood type and learned of a pretty cool tree!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalbergia_sissoo

It seem to be popular for wood furniture, I can see why. The wood piece itself seems worth the cost, even if you had to finish it

  • what wood is that table!?

the dish looks great, but that wood..

  • That in no way excuses being a shill

  • I tried to cheat and look up what might have been going on, on that date at best buy.

I didnt find the answer but found this 200view gem

    Best Buy ad September 1997

I watched the full almost 12 mins

  • are you a normie USian? Are you doing something? Please share with the class what youve been up to, to help out.

  • I do like the act of tapping the card, it's far supierior to swiping

  • If they are just a mindless consumer and they do nothing to change that, they lose my respect.

god I am like this too. I met a woman (on disability no less, so cash strapped) who ordered so much goddamn shit from temu, it was taking over her house. She then flipped on the latest reality "love" based TV show, and I did not make a friend that day. Got the hell outta there whew

  • Honestly, this is more of a values disparity.

If two people have different values in some places in life, its normal to have adversity.

Just because it's a capitalist themed value, doesnt mean this person is being irrational imo.

Mostly agree with you, leading by example is the way. I am amazon free, but my fucking goddamn husband, absolutely pays for prime for television (and almost never watches much there, very annoying) but, I have gotten him to change his buying habits, and he doesnt buy off amazon no where near what he used to, its like once a year now. Ive have been successful in teaching him to at least think about where he spends money, and who it supports. It took some time sure.

  • To be factually mean, even if the single parent had two jobs, its still true that making thier own food is less of a priority because of this.

To me, this, two job single parent, is the exception. Ive met so many more folks in my life who had less stress, and better living situations than I, stay at home moms even, who dont put a second thought in handing a bag of puffs (and im sorry) but a tablet to the kid, and sending them off to sit.

I very well intended to use cloth diapers, but, my living arrangement changed, and I ended up using disposables mostly. I get it. But im not talking about the execption. The rule, is most people (that ive seen, so its whatever, Im in the sates, but ive met so many other parents over the last decade) who have young children, and feed them "kid foods" and skip whole foods.

My son's room didnt have that "kid smell". My house, didnt have the "kid smell". It was said to me a few times. "Kid smell" some folks houses get, you cannot unconvince me, is due to thier diet of high sugar from these "kid foods" literally almost all parents I know buy.

I am an asshole about this for the record. I know. Its one my hills as a child who was raised on gushers and fruit roll ups, and ended up with disordered eating and obese as a youth. Ive seen moms (I should say parents, but really I talk with other moms) give candy out like a regualr snack, children who dont drink water (is free, why?)... like. I met a ten year old who couldnt run, at all. Im not pulling this out my ass. And it really makes me sad for these children who are estsblishing poor eating habits so early in life. I was homless with a newborn until that 5th month. You cant change my mind that more (not all) people could attempt to be better, they just dont.
