  • In school, I liked anything related to geometry where there were shapes and things to look at (note that I liked it, not that I was good at it). Anything more abstract was just juggling numbers to me, it all meant nothing, I never knew why I was doing anything.

  • I know nothing about Hisense TVs but a very cursory look tells me it's a Fire TV? There's a Jellyfin client for those, you just need to sideload it.

    One more thought: my Synology NAS (I know...) came with 2 GB of RAM, which was barely enough for Jellyfin, even with nothing else running on it. I added 16 GB and it's very smooth now, with several services running comfortably concurrently. So maybe don't go for the smallest amount of RAM.

  • I was pondering altering my post to "(Most of) the people" but honestly, from what I know, I don't think the people considering the Christian god anything other than manly masculine male are a significantly large group to have any effect on anything. At some point it's impossible to take any and all aberrations into account if you want to have a meaningful discussion.

  • There are SO many variables at play here, I have no idea how to answer this. What am I currently doing, where am I, what time is it, did I just wake up, have I had my meds, have I eaten, was the food good, am I bored, am I waiting for an appointment, what is the appointment, is the video mildly interesting because it's about a thing I like or because I like the other person, are they waiting for my reaction, how urgent is it.........

  • Still vaguely optimistic I'd graduate from uni some day in the near future and find work as a translator for English and Japanese. (I only stopped trying to graduate 10 years later and I have been paid a lifetime total of 150 euros for translations.)

    I was also able to sleep 8 hours most nights. Those truly were the days.

    On the upside, I hadn't yet discovered Doctor Who which two years later would, depending on who you ask, either greatly improve my life (quote me) or make me an obsessed weirdo (quote the husband).

  • But also avoid lying on your back if you snore and you'll die early if you sleep on your stomach and if you don't change positions several times a night, there might be something wrong or maybe it's just your mattress that is too soft or too hard and btw if you ever even catch a glimpse of blue light, you will never ever sleep well at all anyway so there's no point in anything in any case.
