  • Not exactly. In base 1 they don't have to be in a row because the order doesn't matter. For example, 16 could be 16 ones in a row, or 4 rows of 4 ones, 2 rows of 8, or 16 in a circle, an X, or a completely disorderly bunch.

  • Notice the graph peaks in the teens, when most people's fun and social life also peaks. I was an introverted high school nerd and barely remember the music from that time, then in my late 20s got into doing theatre - suddenly had a thriving social life full of parties, dating, friends, fun... now it's decades later and the music of that era is by far my favorite.

  • Ran across this comment while revisiting my old posts. I never heard of the Chinese room argument about machine intelligence, but I think there's a much simpler test. If you come across a very intelligent statement carved into a stone wall, it probably doesn't mean the wall is intelligent, based on what we know about stone. It doesn't mean whoever carved it was intelligent, because a highly skilled carver could carve somebody else's words without being very smart. Likewise, computer output that seems intelligent can't be taken by itself as proof of anything.
