Best option is self hosting your collection with jellyfin.

    Today's online debating

    Jump
  • "I don't like spicy foods"

"Wow man, you got a source for that? I've been to several cities and countries around the world and I know for a fact that people eat spicy foods, some people eat it exclusively"

This is the current state. People talking past each other like passing ships in the night.

  • Legit response. I would leave their agency alone and discuss their ideas in the open.

I wouldn't like the idea of someone taking my autonomy away, and I don't think you would either.

I also don't ascribe to the notion that the ends justify the means.

  • I’ll take your comment in good faith, but thats a ridiculous comparison. Eating waffles isn't a mechanism of totalitarian power (at least not in this timeline)...secretly controlling what other adults are allowed to read and watch is textbook authoritarian.

  • All I've gathered from this discussion is it really is fitting that the comic is a play on the word hypocrisy.

Either way, thanks for the discussion.

  • So you get where I'm coming from but somehow this philosophy makes it..... Inevitable?

This is sounding more fascist by the minute

"I had no choice, I was just following orders"

  • You clearly misspelled "left" here

  • Secretly manipulating what other adults are allowed to consume because you think they can't handle it...hmmm..I wonder who else did that.

  • This is literally fascist behavior

  • Your performative hatred is dull

  • Just nuke asklemmy. Those mods must have migrated here when StackOverflow lost traffic.

  • Greed is when CEOs force it's use to justify laying off 30% of the staff.

Non-greed is everywhere and self hosting open source models exists. You can use it as any other technology / tool for yourself (personal assistant, coding assistant) Think of how much faster medical research can be done with it. Language barrier use cases as well. 2 individuals that don't share a common language can have a conversation thanks to NLP.

It's just a technology that calculates patterns.

  • This meme is literally about going outside, yet somehow you managed to demonstrate how desperately you need to go outside and touch grass yourself.

  • Work in logistics. IT but very ops adjacent. Depends on the company and whether they do long hauls or short hauls. We do mostly short.

No cert needed, lots of people get hired without experience. The job is pretty easy to pickup, but there are lots of nuances that drive people crazy. And burnout is huge.

Lots of unpredictability. Every day will feel like your in react mode. High energy people seem to like it so keep that in mind

You have really tight deadlines as a container sitting anywhere doing nothing is costing somebody somewhere. So you have to be able to figure out when a container is available so you can schedule a driver to get it.

You also have to communicate with drivers (they're a good bunch but get frustrated with you) Communicate with customers (they get frustrated with you) Communicate with upper management and customer service reps (they get frustrated with you) Communicate with ports and rails (you'll get frustrated with them) Communicate with repair shops when a truck gets a flat to get the driver back on the road.

If you dig in and learn all the DOT regulations, and survive the burnout, you can be set for a decent career. If you just want a quick side gig, it might overwhelm you.

They're already sent through with a type attached. So maybe having a nice filter client side would help out.

  • My only issue is the bots that mirror reddit content over.

And it's not that it's from reddit that bothers me, none of the posts I've seen ever have any engagement. So it feels like spam.

Been training for about 6 months. I've never run a race before but I run my first 8K on Saturday. I'm nervous and excited about it.
