  • I thought HDMI to Ethernet to HDMI was cool the first time we had to do it for a project in a large room. Hdmi starts running into issues at around 25-50ft. You can go a lot further with the Ethernet cable

  • It doesn't need much RAM, my file server/jellyfin server runs on an old laptop I just have sitting with the lid closed on a desk near my router. I RustDesk into it for anything I need, and I have a split VPN tunnel running at all times, so anything I acquire goes through another IP.

    (Had a 256gb SSD laying around I put in it for the OS, and 2 1tb USB hhd's hold media). Jellyfin runs on both our cheap Roku TV's, and our phones if we ever wanted)

  • The people who would be upset this already stopped watching the NFL after some people kneeled to protest racial inequalities. If a game was on at the bar I remember hearing people telling them to turn it off because it said "end racism" behind the end zone. And somehow they can't realize that them claiming that "the NFL shouldn't be political" insinuates one of the parties openly supports racism, but they are upset if you were to call them racist.

  • Yeah, maybe it would be in our interests to make all government communications public access. If it isn't a matter happening outside our borders, have it open. Maybe a classification for certain discussions that requires they be released in a timely manner, and when reviewed by a 3rd party if any information is attempted to be hidden they are immediately removed from their position and an investigation starts as to whether the offense should be criminal.

    The timely manner would have to be monitored as in "we are going to performing a drug raid" they get a warrant that allocates them 2 days to have discussions pertaining to that topic, organize and execute it. Then release all communications immediately following. If they don't believe they can perform it in that time they need to submit it in their warrant request as to the reason why, time period, and date the information will be made public.

    If we wrote strict laws on it, the judges would be held accountable for giving out warrants brazenly, and the executive branch would be kept in check by such

  • The whining is for show. As of October 1st they can start the reconciliation process for the spending bill/budget. Thus meaning they could pass all the spending to all of the departments to keep them open with a 51 vote count after allowing for 20 hours of consideration. That 20 hours would be up by now and the government re-opened IF A, the Republicans voted for their bill, and B they wanted the government running normally.

    So one has to ask... Why don't they want to government running normally

  • Because they had to wait till October 1st, and they thought they could use it as another way to complain about anyone left of them and cause more rift/hate. Saying, we'll send it through reconciliation tomorrow doesn't sound as good as the "radical left extremists are terrorizing our government" to them. So they will get everything they wanted, with only 51 votes, and the ability to weaponize it. And the Democrats and what not who never got to the negotiating tables will be blamed for not magically stopping something nor doing "enough."

    Shit the entire concept of government shutdowns started in the U.S. during Ronald Regans presidency when he vetoed a spending bill. They basically invented government shutdowns to weaponize the ability to hold basic needs from the people and call it legal to get what they want.

  • Except when they used reconciliation to pass 2 budget bills in 2021 when Biden became president, and 2 in 2017 when Trump became president. They use reconciliation to bypass the filibuster after 20 hours thereby allowing just 51 votes to pass budgetary measures.. so long as no extraneous non budgetary items are added to it, those individually would need 60 and be filed separately at that point.

  • What would he care if it kills a lot of use. Some will stay, even if it becomes just an echo chamber, there will be users who don't leave and slowly get fed more and more content that changes their bias.

    A propaganda machine does have to reach 100% of the population, it just needs to pluck small percentages that were on the outskirts and hold the current believers in a situation where they believe this is better than whatever bologna scenario they make up would happen if they weren't doing this. America is MUCH safer place to live today than it was when I was born back in 89'.

    Yet a large portion of the population does not believe that, because they throw murders in people's faces through every facet of our lives to make people feel afraid and use security as an excuse to gain further control over people's rights.

    Anyone who thinks "I could leave my doors unlocked back in the 1990s and I can't today" has been fooled.

    Anyone who thinks subways, trains, or public transit isn't multiple times safer than getting into a car and driving to work, has been fooled.

    And social media as well as news stations want us to be angry and scared, because it gets people engaged. Engagement makes them money. Happy people who feel safe go outside and go to the beach, play sports, go hiking, go to movies, join a book club, have a hobby of some sort. None of those things make news outlets money. Social media could, because they could sell ad slots to people who sell products for those hobbies.. but I guess it doesn't make as much.
