  • When you control the media, you have an endless amounts of ignorant or gullible people to swindle.

    You tell 300 million people that a man is a gang member, a criminal, a terrible person and they are the cause of the problems around you. They are the reason you see murders on the news everyday.

    You don't need evidence, you just say it. Then Noem says it, then some random racist cherry picks incidents to show as evidence. Fox focuses all their interviews around pointing blame at them without usually actually saying it directly. Newsmax repeats it. CBS, NBC, CNN all call them alleged criminals.

    So 300 million people keep hearing and seeing it and some start to repeat it. Still without any actual evidence. And you are giving people an easy way out. My problems aren't my own, the people who are around me are struggling because *checks notes.. the people who were causing less crime, oops can't say that. The people who are different than me, are causing it. Some of them even have their own cultures or languages that I don't understand! It must be their fault. It wasn't like this when people grew up in (pulls out rose tinted glasses and makes excuses for everything bad that happened during those times).

    Life only gets worse as wealth becomes scarce. Wealth becomes scarce for the majority when it gets hoarded by the few.

    Why did life appear to get better for a number of years, what was the great depression, maybe charts like these show something...

    It should be 90% of the population voting to spread the wealth. Yet with the media controlled by the wealthy, we are easier to manipulate

  • While I agree with you, every permit giving agency would have to be under the executive branch and thereby deemed reporting to the president according to the supreme Court rulings at this point. He's a king in all but name. As soon as he decided to "lift" the sanctions on Russia by simply ordering/dissolving the entities that were supposed to upkeep the laws made by the legislature, he should have been impeached by the house, and removed by the Senate. Yet the Senate would not vote to, so everything he does on federal land (a lot of D.C. because Republicans refused to allow it to be a state) has no one to argue his actions oppose the laws of another body, and thereby have near no protections against his actions.

  • Musk was worth something like 200 billion when he bought Twitter. Now he's worth possibly 500.

    He's looking at 100b per year growth with those numbers. Although he may have $1t payout in the near future.

    To put that in perspective he has more money than all but 55 countries, soon to possibly be only 30 countries.

    He may bitch about his company losing a contract... But the guy soon will have enough money to sink entire economies because our idiocy.

  • Google is actively funding the project, and we go to Google services to help fund Google to "rebel" against this 1 LLC, even ignoring the other complany who bid on the contract. I get why people think they should boycott them, but no one here will be contracting this company for anything.. so why not boycott Google, Microsoft, and Amazon who are actively enabling this regime. (All paying money towards this ball room being built)

  • I think it's a lot more accurate to say these companies were enabling it rather than some random llc that bid on the contract. It would make more sense to stop using all of their services/products.

  • I had manager years ago that had a hole in his passenger side door. I asked what happened and one of my coworkers immediately jumped on the opportunity to tell me how he managed to discharge a hunting rifle in his passenger seat somehow.

    I should have expected every other decision he made may be just as bad... But for some reason I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Turns out most of his decisions were that negligent.

  • I use a split tunnel for the VPN. You can route specific applications/services to go through the VPN, and leave the Plex access how it is currently if you want. I have my jellyfin server set up that one of my browsers and qbitorrent all go through the VPN tunnel that's always connected, then RustDesk, my file server, jellyfin and what not runs locally. So I don't have to lose access to Jellyfin when acquiring any content.

    Note: you can actually kick off a download through the VPN, and tell it to download sequentially, then just refresh the movies list in your player(jellyfin for me) and start watching the movie while it downloads. Thought that was a nice surprise.

  • I doubt we could find many sites that don't have some ties/business with the U.S. government. I assume most of Lemmy has ties to AWS or Cloudflare who both support government sites. Lemmy.world uses Cloudflare.

    My point was trying to get some random llc shutdown doesn't do anything. All that will happen is people looking down at others while really supporting much larger bigger-issue companies.

  • It's a ball room, not a concentration camp. Critizing the companies who take contracts for core civic or whomever agreed to build that prison in Florida to lock up immigrants would make sense, but this just seems dumb to me.
