  • Yeah I looked into migrating to earth but overall it didn't seem like a great idea. Most of the world is rife with hatred of aliens and has a very much higher percentage of trafficking aliens than native peoples. They seem to be highly focused on competing against each other rather than helping their societys grow together. When was there last war, today.. that number hasn't changed in thousands of cycles. An atmospheric scan shows catestorfic changes making it inhabitable for many life forms on the planet and yet still while thousands of species have died off around them, the primary "intelligent" species ignores it while lying to their peers trying to swindle themselves into a better standing so they can think they are better than others while dooming near everything. Maybe I'll go in after the next thaw in about 65,000 cycles.

  • Yeah, they had to change things, the person was hit by a human driver and flung in the self driving cars path and the human driver drove off. The self driving car didn't know what to do and dragged the body to the side of the road basically. None of these incidents took place by a Waymo vehicle though. Waymo has had to shoulder the shit that Tesla and other companies have put out. GM as you said making that "mistake".

  • Copy party works pretty well, I've liked it. That said I don't have mine open to everyone, it requires a password for view/read/edit rights or whatnot, which you can easily divy out using a config file. (Not the most secure, but that's because I haven't put in any protections myself)

  • 18-29, where do they get this biased claim from? I find it hard to believe people 7 years or so younger than me are trusting false data more than the large swaths of 65+ gobbling up misinformation about immigrants, drugs, etc. "Younger users are more active, more influential in their peer groups, and frankly, often less skeptical about what they’re seeing online."

  • The tone/context she said it in indicated she thought it was intentional with a hint of jealousy. So depends on the take I guess. Either way it was a lose lose situation for me and possibly something I should have seen as a red flag and not something to overly analyze... Says the guy who is still desiphering how I should have absorbed that information 14 years later

I got really self conscious about wearing certain shorts because an ex told me my nuts would often show a buldge the way they fit. Never wanted to wear them again, was really hoping no one else noticed such, but who knows

  • The GPUs are basically proprietary to the severs which are near proprietary to their racks/setups. I spent a few months on a contract quality testing new Nvidia graphics severs being assembled by a a Taiwanese company here in the states. From the liquid cooling built into the $2-4 million dollar rack to the proprietary network/data cables to transfer the information at the speeds they do, most people would have no way to use them.

  • Someone saying we are selecting 20,000 people with very low income to be a part of our basic income test run. The idea is to make sure they can afford to live. Then being told you are one of those 10,000 that they picked to compare too.

    Id still be happy some people were being helped and would hope it helped future people but damn would that be a bummer. We found 5,000 of the 10 we chose not to help either wound up homeless and malnourished while all of them had less happy lives and opportunities, couldn't afford to have as many kids and the suicide rates were much higher.

  • I understand where you are coming from and agree with the sentiment, but at the end of the day either they need to form a party and quickly, as if it isn't all together by August 2026 it has no hope of doing anything if there actually are fair & free elections some how, or they all have to vote out Democrats they don't like and vote in new ones who fit their views better using the already established democrat committees.

    States like Florida require you to have at least 1% vote in the last election and a committee with 50 board members set up and in place with the rules of how you would perform your primary and what not. Which is why they would have to establish it all and have it in place and ultimately surrender the Governor seat of Florida to the Republicans in the 2026 election to ensure they could exist on the ballot in 2028 for a presidential candidate. So it's either organize quickly, or just rework what's there.

  • Can I split hairs on what I consider cultural differences between nerds and geeks? I consider nerds to be bookworms, studious type of people. Where as someone can be aloof and just really into one thing like say Spider-Man and be a geek.

    I guess I just consider one to be academic focused while the other hobby(?) focused. Like getting high every day and playing Super Smash Brothers could get you classified as a geek, but not a nerd.
