  • Nah it appears a lot of countries that did recognize it revoked such as well. Seems like a pretty strange way to deal with the situation if you send weapons to Taiwan and not china

  • The U.S. was sending military equipment to Taiwan so they could build up a defense to make it harder to capture, I can't see how that would be less of a piss of China act than calling them by a different name

Imagine if the U.S. approved $2b in weapons to Palestine last year. Israel may have even stopped

  • Same Guthrie that wrote a couple song lyrics about Trump's father's properties and the racial divide that was there.

  • Depends on how you sell it maybe. Tell people they want to use personal data that include networth or income to dictate food prices and you might get Republican support

  • I think it depends on what you view as Israel. Israel's current government system is Zionist, but a people's government is not equivalent to their people. So just as I can say that everyone in Gaza is not Hamas, I can say that every person in Israel isn't this Zionist regime. I couldn't care what they called the area on a map, whether it has 1 non Zionist country, 2 seperate non-zionist countries, or 12 small non- zionist countries, just so long as root out the Zionism / reform their governments into the acceptance of a people not based on their language, religion, color of their skin, sex, gender, etc. Doubt we'll see it most places until we start fixing economic issues everywhere though.

  • This is just the spending bill, which doesn't include the tariffs which are just taxes on imports that get passed on to us. So when they say middle class families will save money, they don't. It's just broken into seperate parts so they can say "it's good for you" and tell people to ignore the tarrifs, which will more than offset any benefits and drain money faster from the lower/middle class up to those with mass wealth.

  • Taxing individual companies rather than all people/companies. So if the chips are cheaper to make over seas, and servers are cheaper to assemble over seas, and they can get taxed less by existing over seas.. why wouldn't they just move their entire operation over seas at that point.

  • If it were websites made with AI, why wouldn't Kagi find them just the same? Search engines just search key terms. Can't see how it would know if the term was typed by a person or a bot. That said I used SearchXNG and it wasn't bad.

  • It happens, maybe you were thinking about vine, I heard someone rich saying they wanted to bring that back

  • It's not owned or operated by meta as far as I know? Where did you see that

  • The same thing they've been doing. The U.S. isn't supporting Ukraine nearly as much as people make it out to be. All we did was spend money on U.S. contracts, and send mostly old munitions. The majority of all the aid ever going anywhere was blocke/halted. Of $180b that was supposed to be sent beteen 2022-2024, $100 billion still has not arrived. Trump supported Russia from the start, and legislature held off everything they could waiting for him. And a large amount of the population apparently wanted Russia to expand as well.

  • Yeah, I always wonder when people were bullshitting about Texas leaving the union how they expect they would factor in the National debt. Like sure you can leave if you if pay $100,000+ per person who lives in your state, and we remove all our assets and draw up trade deals that leave you with no ability to acquire anything. I mean hell, at least California could trade with Canada, Mexico, and the EU. Texas was anti Mexico, a far stretch from Canada but wouldn't be able to ship through the U.S. likely, and would get worse trade deals with the EU do to the policies they were fighting for.

They don't trust China, so their only possible ally would have been Russia, which the U.S. wouldn't allow Russia to be that close, or the best case scenario is Texas got the Cuba treatment, worse case would be hard to imagine.

  • Yeah it would all be a mess. It would end in war and no one wants that is the truth. Because the only way it would work out is if the states were able to receed from the union. Which the U.S. would never allow. It would implode the country

  • I assume they are doing this because states can't opt out essentially, but in the end Trump gets to say he cut the funding to all those states that dont support his bigotry and his supporters call it a win.

States should find out the amount and keep that amount from being paid to the federal government and then disperse it themselves.

  • I like the assume the lady he's talking to is actually just another thing that came out of his fish tank. Or rather if he was, and was asking her how long it's been since they have cleaned the fish tank because of it

  • Not sure they'll matter. The only party viably able to unseat some of the Republicans right now is shit on by the right, left, and center daily. Meaning the odds that people will show up in droves during a midterm to vote for them is minimal. And when the Republicans hold the Senate, they'll get Roberts, Thomas, and Alito to retire and Trump to replace them with far right justices who owe their lifelong cushy jobs to those Republicans. So we'll have ~16 years of Republican support in the Judicial branch all but guaranteed. When 33% of the government is owned by a party, all they have to do is secure 1 half on Congress and they can prevent the country from moving left.

The last administration "led" with 50% majority control of the government. This one leads with 100% majority control. It won't be easy to come back from.

  • I find that a lot of movies/tv shows are doing this. Cell phones just seem to be challenging for writers. In a pickle, yeah call someone. Lost, yeah you've got the internet man, your fine. I think the "my phone is dead" and "there's no cell signal just got beat like a dead horse, and having characters just not answer every time something comes up makes the characters look worse.
