  • It doesn't happen often, but when it does happen I temporarily lose access to my media. But based on what others are saying here, it looks like it's possible to manually remount my drive instead of rebooting. So I'll give that a try.

  • Nope, I haven't tried that. But I will give it a try when the next power outage occurs. I actually didn't know I could manually remount until today. I'm still pretty new to selfhosting.

    This is correct. I made my drive auto mount using /etc/fstab, and I believe that is only checked once during boot.

    UUID=412ea77a-96e1-427c-9f75-2aae2fe0dca1 /mnt/wd ext4 defaults 0 2

    If I were to use the mnt-data.mount you've suggested, does that mean I need to delete what I already have in /etc/fstab and replace it with what you suggested?

    If my friends were also on Piedfed.ca, then all's fine. But if they're on a different instance and want to comment and/or vote on your post, then they're fucked. They would have to go on their home instance, look for !asklemmy@lemmy.world, and then search for your post.

    I say friend, but this applies to literally everyone here except those who are already on Piefed.ca.

    If they're also on the same instance as me (Piefed.ca), then all's good. But God forbid they're on another instance and they want to comment or vote on your post. They would have to go back to their own instance, find this community, and then search for this specific post.

    And I know some of you guys are itching to tell me about using a browser extension/script or another front-end to fix this, but this should be officially integrated with every front-end. I don't understand why there still hasn't been any integration with something like Threadiverse.

    How can a social media grow if you can't even share posts properly?
