  • what's the craziest weather you've experienced?

  • Yeah. Now I'm dealing with potentially losing my home. My dad is going to be living the RV life in spring. He offered to transfer his mortgage to me or rent his home to me if I need it. I'm honestly hoping that I can get an insurance payout big enough to pay off my home, so I can have his. It would be better accommodating for my slowly worsening disabilities and is less prone to the structural issues my home is. I'm very lucky to have this opportunity and I hope that I can have something work out right for once. I love my home dearly, mind, but it isn't one that will be good for me as I age. I'll be thirty next year, but I have the body of someone who is forty. I don't expect to age well, so I am trying to get my future figured out as best I can while living life as fully as I can.

  • The safest place in my house is a closet in my finished basement. When the tornado that fucked up my foundation extra bad hit, I was in this tiny ass, pitch dark closet with two panicking dogs and the whole house shook and it sounded like a train was in the house with me. I thought I was going to die. Best part is that I was asleep when the tornado alert came through my phone. I booked it downstairs in 30 seconds. Found out later that the tornado was on the ground before the alert went off

  • That's a crazy temp drop omg. And I'm already packing up important nonessentials to store at my parents' place. This week is supposed to be good weather-wise until Wednesday, then we're getting more storms. I've gotten like 10.5 inches of rain in the past month alone. The retaining wall beside my house is starting to bow and crack because the ground is expanding so much from the rain. There's just no drainage for this much water. I'm also on a hill, so I'm not even getting the worst of it all. Most of the water rolling down the road misses me entirely.

  • Fahrenheit 451. I started noticing increasing censorship and the growing intentional denial of knowledge and learning more and more. It's terrifying.

  • I mean there are pretty ruthless horse people, but not many are like that. Everyone I know goes above and beyond for their horses. My mare was considered a lost cause by many when I met her two years ago. I spent those two years rehabbing her and becoming her bestie and now she's in incredible shape physically and mentally. 10/10 worth the effort. I'll probably only get a couple more years with her because she's very old, but she living an exceptionally wonderful life now and that's all that matters to me. I want her to have the best old age she can. She's had a hard life and deserves to live out the rest of her days in comfort and happiness

    When I first heard about HeeHaw, I legit teared up. Bonds with equines is something different than anything else. I've never been closer to any creature, both human and animal, than I have been with my horses. I can't imagine how devastated HeeHaw's family is...

    This cop deserves to be stripped of everything at the very least. He should go to prison, but I'd settle for him being fired and being unable to own a gun or be a cop ever again.

  • It's doomed as in they'll die with most bad leg injuries. Horses cant support themselves on 3 legs. They're just too big. There was a foal with 3 legs that lived for a couple years and made its round on social media, but it was eventually put down because it just grew too large. Poor thing should have been put down immediately because the life it lived was of terrible quality despite getting specialized care.

    I've seen a few horses get put down for a bad leg injury. Almost had to put down my childhood mare after she fucked up her leg in a fence. She made a full recovery, but it took almost a year for it to heal. Her leg got caught in the wire fence and it got shredded to the bone. It was awful, but she was able to stand on it enough to keep herself upright and all that, so we decided to try to get it healed and were miraculously successful

  • Most horse people I know (me included) are BROKE because we choose to have horse(s) when we really shouldn't. Bad financial decisions for sure, but most horse people have a passion for the creatures and don't let things like finances get in the way.

    There have been days where I've skipped meals in order to buy my horse her supplements. Not many days, but a couple. My bond with horses is what keeps me going when I'm at my lowest, so I refuse to give them up. My mom and grandma will occasionally sneak me a few bucks to help because they're almost as invested in my horse as I am.

  • His health is really good, it seems! He doesn't have any obviousl eye issues or a snotty nose! His weight seems good and his coat is so soft. He was extra sleepy when I was there lol. I interrupted nap time by showing up.
