  • Actually, nobody is doing the physical labor so that the company can present itself as low cost for future investors.

  • I might be a unique form of grump: I recognize we get gypped by modern streaming services, but I still appreciate that the internet gave us greater breadth of choice than old cable options.

There’s indie and foreign streaming services that cost a lot less than the Netflix oligopoly, yet people never even seem to look for those, and just turn to piracy as their form of protest. “I can’t live without this show, and so I’ll give these services my vote of confidence, as well as political ammunition to enact higher levels of internet traffic spying!” What a genius self-serving plan.

  • Every accusation is a confession.

  • Game:

This skill has a 50% chance to deal a critical hit, or completely miss!

“You mean, critical hits which deal something like 30% extra damage?”

  • I watched MST3K recently (a show that clearly denotes when classic network commercials would come on)

They mentioned commercials AFTER YouTube had already shown a 1 minute ad break.

We are late for a competitor.

  • Nice meme! Downvoted for the asterisk, pussy. (Yes, spelt with a U, not a *)

  • It upsets me that in working with webpages, I regularly look at “all” the network traffic going to a website - and clearly Microsoft’s GUID is hiding somewhere it won’t even show.

  • I definitely understand the annoyance, but I let it go because I understand how “Pride” works as a concept.

Bigots and Nazis need to feel “popular”, like they live in a world of their making. One of the biggest weapons against them is showing how unpopular they are. The day that they make an offhand crass comment, and the whole room turns against them.

Pride moments, raising trans positivity unwarranted, are meant to trap and push out those mentalities; keep reminding hateful bigots that “You are not welcome. Cut it out.”

Where it gets tricky is for the many people who are fine with it and don’t care, but just get gradually annoyed. I’m partly there, but I also understand that Trans people have put up with enough of the world’s shit that they’re allowed to vent back for a generation or so at all the baseless hate.

Priority in socialized healthcare is a tricky fight. Everyone wants their cause supported, when really all of them should be. The infighting is based around fear, and not entirely unwarranted, so I don’t have easy answers.

  • As a reminder to anyone downvoting, the original Tesla cars were invented by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, genuine engineers and good guys. It’s taken a long time for South African Nazis to poison it, but the Cybertruck is very much the apex of it.

  • Ironically, most of the gooner stuff showing up in my YT feed is from girl streamers.

“Oh, wow! The new outfit puts her in a microskirt with a thong! Actually, can I move the camera down…? I can!!! This is so pretty!! Don’t judge!!

  • I have long agreed the fight for game preservation and access has been important, but I’ll admit I have a hard time with the stern argument that discs were key to that.

I may be biased towards my Steam usage.

  • I have a weird dichotomy. I dislike excess meat consumption, and I don’t like guns. But, I’m kind of okay with hunting deer. They’re an excess pest, and many hunters are more responsible gun owners using form factors designed for hunting, not urban murders.

  • Right, but this is a generation that thought the EPA is a terrorist organization. Fresh air is fucking evil.

  • Did you read?…Specifically the part where I specifically included the stipulation where people don’t need one under the age of 18, because I know that people online will nitpick ideas even knowing that any genuine legislation would get a dozen logical caveats to it?

  • Do drivers’ licenses expire at the end of the year? Why such a short expiry?

People take things for granted now. If it’s a move in the right direction, why make it far more restrictive than it needs to be?

Even just 20% of meat eaters reconsidering their habits would be fantastic, or another 30% getting the medallion but looking at meat consumption differently as a result.

  • It sounds like you read “you must spend one medallion to purchase meat”, which isn’t what I said. I said you must “have” one. Much like you must have ID to buy liquor - but you don’t see people in line at the DMV grinding for extra drivers licenses.

I see I’m going to have to explain things multiple times to stop other commenters from hallucinating. So, again: You must have a meat medallion. Not spend it. Have. Not spend. Have. Two distinct words.

  • Where did you read “every year”?

Why do you need to kill “a bunch” of possums instead of just one? Do you eat possum meat? Why not a chicken?

  • I mean, if you believe killing animals is needless cruelty, then...should that mean you just shouldn't eat meat?

  • Infinite. Whatever you can afford with your wallet.

The point being only people who have one may buy it in restaurants/etc.
