  • It's one of the theories as to why we haven't seen any other intelligent species in the galaxy.

They develop to the point of being able to digitally create their own internal worlds and fantasies and infinitely live in a reality of their own making. They never have to bother exploring, communicating or broadcasting anything into the universe ever. Making them silent and invisible to everyone else.

  • Depending on the species in the afterlife ... that could be titillating, fascinating, erotic, painful or dangerous

  • GEORDI! ....What are you doing to that ghost!

  • Beautiful work .... now hold still while I apply my wax seal of approval

  • The MAGA war on the PBS is about control and in silencing opposition

It's an age old tactic that's been practised by every fascist state in history

  • lol .... The barbarian hordes yanking off the lever, tearing up the tracks and attacking all sides with levers, tracks, beams, rocks and stones.

  • Now you can run over both sides of the empire

  • All the best to Furryosa .... and their big giant mobile warming pillow

  • According to Furryosa ... you aren't pudgy .... you're a big giant mobile warming pillow

  • My will be done

  • Maybe for the US but up here in Canada it's hit and miss ... they'll have a lot of Star Trek shows but then skip some (including Prodigy)

All this complication just makes it all feel like the early 2000s all over again .... everyone is just going to drift towards pirating because it won't be worth it for everyone to buy this service, that service and managed four or five services to watch their favourite shows. It's much easier to just pay for a VPN and torrent all the stuff you want for one price.

I'm going to guess that in about five years, streaming companies will collapse into a few providers selling majority of content for a more manageable price .... either that or they'll find ways to severely lock down the internet for everyone.

Or it will be like the DS9 alternate timeline of 2025 and we'll need to have an internet pass in order to get online to do anything.

  • I remember reading a long time ago in the 90s how Roddenberry had hoped to develop their own network or entire studio just dedicated to developing the Star Trek universe with endless series, shows and movies. There's so much content there and so much more possible through actual productions and even fan content, books and writing that they could develop something like it.

I'm pretty sure I'll just spend the rest of my life watching Trek over and over again. I've watched several series now and it's been years since I saw some that when I go to watch them again, it's like seeing them again for the first time. By the time I get Alzheimers or some degenerative brain disease, it will all be completely new to me anyway.

  • I wish someone would just start an all Star Trek and Star Trek related streaming service .... it would probably be the only thing I would watch

  • This is an accurate description of most national governments

  • I once had to baby sit a new kitten that one of my nieces got. I had to hold on to the little kitty for about two days while the owners had to travel and move around before they got settled and took the kitten back.

At first I thought the kitty was cute and we held and cuddled it and took care of it. It was lonely all the time so we had to make a box and let it sleep with us at night. No big complaints until day two.

I wear jeans most of the time and on day two I noticed scratch marks all over my legs. The kitten kept jumping on me climbing and wanting to sit on my lap. At the time, I thought it was cute ... but later realized this thing is using me as a scratch post!

It made me realize the truth of an old description I heard about cats.

They are furballs with hidden razor blades.

You get drawn in to want to hold and cuddle a cute little plushy soft thing ... only to realize that there are sharp objects hidden underneath.

  • The more I see pet owners like this, the less I want to actually want to own a dog.

I don't have a particularly busy life but its busy enough and I know that I would have to sacrifice a lot of my time in order to take care of a pet .... which is why I don't think I will ever get one. It's just way too much responsibility and I know I wouldn't be able to fulfill those needs .... I might be able to for periods of time but for the majority of the time, I can't.

And most of the people I know are way more busy than me in so many ways .... yet they are the ones who own pets!

  • My friend Lionel in grade school telling us that every time you thrust when you have sex that that's how many children you'll have.

According to Lionel I should have had a few million children by now.

  • They had a very nervous, anxious dog. I think it had something to do with being a pure, pure bred Golden Retriever ... I hate to say it but my friend really wanted a 'good looking' dog to fit into all their family photos. They're a high strung family with a father that works at a plant and the wife is in education and the two kids were attending school far away from home so busing or driving by car every day. This all meant that the two dogs who were already very needy were left at home alone for hours every day ... family comes home ... everything goes chaotic for an hour two and then every disappears again ... family comes home for an hour or two and everyone is back in bed. Repeat .. every single day even on weekends and holidays because the family is constantly on the move with work, cottage, hockey, dancing, swimming, soccer, recitals, school events and on and on. I felt bad for the dogs because I knew they were just kept in this huge beautiful home for most of their lives with no one.

In all, up until the dogs were about five or six, they got sick at least once a year. It got so bad that the family was considering giving up the dogs but either the dogs got better with the environment or they sensed that they would lose their home if they didn't stop puking or crapping inside the house.

I will never understand why my friend wanted those dogs. The dogs are now almost ten and now just laze and lounge about the house without a care and it takes a lot of effort for anyone to take them for a walk. I think the dogs just don't care any more.
