  • I still don't understand why a bunch of guys don't just dress up as ICE agents with masks, guns and an unmarked van and just rob a bank. Then just go from town to town doing it everywhere.

    It's the perfect cover, especially in cities. ICE agents are basically lawless mercenaries, so no one really knows who's real and who's not, and law enforcement is being used for actual ICE activities elsewhere.

  • I'm not American .... I'm in Canada in northern Ontario ... we don't have kids so I have a bit of extra cash, plus I grew up poor so I know what this holiday means to many kids, especially in my area where families don't have a lot, especially these days.

  • I get about 50 kids in average every year.

    So no matter the price (unless it gets any higher), I'll spend a couple hundred on candies. I'm not wealthy but I can afford it once a year .... I actually prefer spending more on this holiday than for Christmas.

    Plus I loved this holiday when I was a kid. What other time or place do you have an opportunity to see a strangers house and get candy in a safe and public holiday? So I've made it a rule in my life that on Halloween when a kid comes to my door, they're getting a few handfuls of candy. I also don't care of the kids age ... they could be two or twenty (as long as they're polite and non aggressive) they're getting candy.

    I once had a group of college kids who were Indian nationality who were just out having fun with some face paint and daring each other to visit houses .... I gave them a bunch of candy, told them which houses to go to and made them laugh.

    They walk to school, check all their bags for firearms (take any away that are brought in) ... then after the security check, they are given their own holstered small sidearm that they have to keep visually on them at all times during school hours. It has to stay visible to everyone at all times.

    I'm indigenous Canadian, 100% Ojibway from northern Ontario and I really don't mind being alone.

    I have several great uncles who lived to be in their 70s and they lived out a good part of their lives on their own on the land. One great uncle I remember spent entire winters on his own at his family's remote camp every year. He'd stay out there for about four or five months with no one, then come back to town, live very quietly preferring to be alone, then go out again the next winter. None of it was forced, his wife was gone and his kids were grown, he could have gone to live in town with his family but he didn't want to. He preferred being alone in the woods and leading life like he had when he was younger. He did that for about a decade until he physically couldn't any more and had to live the last five or six years of his life in town.

    He was alone, I don't think he was lonely that much and he lived into his 70s.

    I remember several elders who were hunters and trappers that did the same and lived long lives in the wilderness.
