I like city building games and puzzles. I like other things as well, but that's not important right now.

  • Not necessarily - it can mean that only a very specific type of person knows about and wants to use fediverse services. And it might mean that dissenting voices are silenced or bullied out of the space.

    Federation means you can have the best of both worlds. E.g right wing instancea versus left wing instances, or an instance for religious content and one that's staunchly atheist. Then you get diversity of thought in the wider fediverse but protected spaces for your beliefs. We're not there yet - i only see one or two socialist instances and one apparently radical rw one that is cut off (defederated) from all the others.

  • One of my biggest problems in life is trying to do things / use things up all at once. Probably an aspect of ADHD.

    • getting too into a game has, multiple times, caused me to put university on the shelf for a bit.
    • occasionally get periods of time where I feel the need to grind stardewvalley valley and play no other game. It's also one of those games where I compulsively start new saves before completely finishing the last one
    • when I find a really good series to watch I just watch an episode every day. Sometimes that becomes my main recreation. MadMen was the best example of this because I watched it with zero break days (except a family holiday?) from start to finish
    • When Daredevil: Born Again came out, the release time for each episode was like 4AM in Britain and I'd been planning around it releasing at midnight or evening like they usually do. For some reason I HAD to see it before I did anything else. 4 AM wake-up on a wednesday for about 5 weeks. Damaged my sleep schedule significantly and left me not enough energy to even go to university on those days.

    If a book doesn't make me want to read it all now, it won't get read at all. Because it's competing with flashy phone screen for my attention.

    Not sure how friendship gets "consumed all at once" but I think I'm actually a "save hings for later" in that regard, same wth romantic relationships. Just can't plan ahead with dopamine-wells such as entertainment and snacks. I can save non-snack food for later, and I actually excel at it.

  • Users' testimonies i guess. Me and anyone else on lemmy will tell you that they prefer it to reddit, twitter, and instagram.

    The rate at which people get banned for hate speech or bullying could also be used as an indicator, in my opinion.

    It's rare in England (from my experience) but we recognise all American names from TV and literature so, being slightly American, I think it comes across as a cool one while not seeming unusual.

  • I usuallly enter into relationships with people after talkjng to them 1-5 times rather than getting to know them in depth. But i guess the fact that it has had to happen several times shows that the alternative method is more watertight for having a relationship that lasts 😅

  • In my opinion: exactly like you get them in the shop, i.e no relacing, and then idk about the actual knot bit but i think the worst thing would be to make some super strong sailor knot you can never adjust and just brute forcing your feet into and out of the shoe every time.
