  • Omg, do you remember as a kid thinking "When I'm an adult I'll have the money to get really into lego - i'll have a seperste room for it and displays and storsge systems, and I'll be able to buy all the sets i need"

    Well, i'm waiting on being able to afford my own place. I'll still be waiting on that for a while. And I'm waiting on being able to afford my own new lego sets, lol. Haven't treated this as an achievable goal in many years

  • Want to build on this with my own opinions: we're usually taught that handsome is the word for men and beautiful is for women, but to me 'Handsome' = 'pretty' and yet handsome =/= beautiful. Beautiful is of course > pretty and < gorgeous in intensity, and yet it is important to use the full range of beautifying words so that it feels more authentic for your partner. If you have a lot to say rather than just one compliment, someone will feel more uplifted by yoir remarks

    So: If i'm in acts of intimacy with someone else, I as a man would appreciate a "you're beautiful" more than a "you're handsome".

    'Handsome' is a more casual thing to say - to deliver a " you're handsome," grab a guys face like he's a cute puppy and you're going "WHO'S A GOOD BOY?!" Or deliver it when you're giving someone a small kiss goodbye, or a quick random hug. But we need more than one word to describe how attractive we are, for authenticity.

    It's also kind of desensitised as a word because it's what moms and grandmothers say to us. Ergo, if you want to express the sexual beauty of a man, hit him with a 'beautiful' rather than a handsome.

    And there aren't really any words that can only be used for one gender and not the other. Though some people will be taken aback by it, at first. You can call men pretty, you can call women handsome.

  • This is so true. I've realised that the root of my success is that I think about things more deeply and/or more often than pther people, and I'm more patient. I started to lose that part of myself and then started to fall behind. Now i'm on the path back, making my life less hectic andntrying not to fry my dopamine receptors

    We are, just by society - i.e something we haven't evolved to survive being hunted by. We're much like dodos.

  • TIL that in india , public transportation especially bus is free of cost for women in many major provinces and many other provinces are planning to implement such schemes soon.

  • Makes me wonder if it was done to reduce/prevent sexual assault, i know that India and Japan introduced woman-only train carriages, and the UK was debating it. Therefore if they made buses free for everyone (which would be logical and threading the needle in its own way) they would be seen as reintroducing the problem they sought to mitigate in the first place.

It's really not about birthrates or even religious justification, it does physical damage to your brain and is like buying candy from the cartel (i.e no matter how ethically-sourced you think your porn is, you are supporting a system reliant on coercion, kidnapping and objectification)
