Ugh I posted a selfie, so I guess I’ll do a somewhat real bio now that I’m not a mystery person anymore :/

  • Trans woman (she/her)
  • Photographer
  • Fashion addict
  • Occasional techie
  • Friendly (feel free to reach out)

  • A lot of cats do that when I pick them up. A lot of times I’ll adjust my grip and flip them over a cradle them like a baby. No cat has taken issue with it yet.

  • Leave. Straight up irish goodbye. There’ll be more parties if you don’t have a rep for literally smelling like shit. Toss the underwear on the way home.

  • I feel like context is important. I live in NY and it’s pretty great, but super expensive. I’ve heard California is nicer but even more expensive. Minnesota was really nice when I went there and more affordable, but the winters are pretty harsh.

Worst state is gonna be like Mississippi or some other southern backwater. A friend of mine moved to Georgia and he works three jobs and still makes less money than me. Apparently there’s not much to do there either.

  • is that the grandma bike guy?

  • I don’t think he actually cares that much about us. He just uses us to flood the zone so his transphobic base doesn’t start questioning his actions.

  • I have no sense of smell.

  • When you start to want to do things you know they won’t want to do.

  • FFVI and Nancy Drew, Detective? I don’t think 1938 Nancy would be very fond of the FFVI world.

  • I had always heard that you’re supposed to drain it as much as possible before fully charging it. My phone is 7 years old and the battery still lasts a full day following that. I could be wrong though.

  • Number on is completely pointless if you’re taking good care of your battery. You shouldn’t be plugging it in until it’s nearly drained. It pops warnings at 20% and 10% that all I need to know. I don’t look at it otherwise.

  • I feel like with most cases of post 2008 technology, what they’re doing is interesting on the surface level. The problem is that it’s always a wildly inefficient and predatory solution for whatever problem.

Self driving cars sound like a good idea, smoother traffic, safer roads, etc. The problem is the technology isn’t really there yet and the way it’s currently implemented is dangerous and inefficient and really has no place on actual roads. So what we end up with are waymos that are error prone and susceptible to harassment from people and teslas causing accidents. That harassment waymos get is somewhat justified too because of what they represent. Instead of billions of dollars being spent on public transit which would solve the same problems more efficiently, billions of dollars are spent on a personal, luxury, novelty transit experience.

As far as the ML goes, yeah it’s interesting I guess. It needs vastly more data than it has because driving is incredibly complicated. I don’t really have any basis for it, but I kinda don’t think it’ll ever be effective enough until we reach some kind of technology breakthrough with quantum computing or something. There’s too many data bottlenecks for the amount of data processing required. Until we get that, waymo is just gonna have to keep relying on underpaid Filipino support staff to fill in the gaps.

  • Most things. The internet is a rage factory these past few years. I got enough real things to be upset about.

  • This is no surprise to anyone in the community. Practically every trans person I know has wanted to move to NYC, Chicago, or Seattle for at least a year or so. Smaller blue cities have been getting better reputations for trans people in the last few months.

My partner and I plan to visit Chicago and then decide between moving there or to Minneapolis.

  • Clamuel even

  • I guess it’s dumb to comment like that. Not gonna lie though, it’s wild to make a whole meme and comments dogging on it.

  • My first 3 relationships were with stalkers. I was super depressed and had no interest in a relationship. I figured the best way to get them to leave me alone was to give them what they wanted. The first one would track me down when I was out and corner me if she wanted me to do something, that lasted 3 months. The second used to follow me home from high school and would watch me when I was at a club. That lasted two weeks, but every now and then she’d hit me up for a hookup.

The third was the most traumatic experience of my life and I’ll just leave it there. A few months after our breakup, she asked me to fill in on her team for the schools Overwatch team tryouts. I didn’t want to join, but I played. A week later, they’re begging me to join the A team… in the position my ex was trying out for. That was definitely cathartic. 5000 hours of OW later, it’s a bit less funny. I never wanna play a video game that much again.

Also back in college I matched on Tinder with an older woman. She was like 26, I was 19. After a chat it turns out she was in a committed relationship and was looking for a third. Why not? I showed up a few times, they would get me dinner and then I’d do whatever they wanted essentially. After the fourth time, we stopped because the guy was too into me and the girl didnt like how things were developing.

I also kinda fell in love with a girl while I was on a grippy sock vacation. It didn’t last too long after we got out. She had issues and bad habits and pretty quickly succumbed to them and then started being really manipulative.

If this doesn’t make it obvious, I have some issues being a bit too… pliable. I’ve learned some lessons though and I’m in a pretty healthy relationship now and I can look back and laugh it this stuff.

  • I’d be more interested in a more loose relationship than “dating” with someone like that. I’m just not really interested in committing myself to someone whose life doesn’t allow them to prioritize the relationship. I’ve been in situations with people like that though and it’s been fine. It’s not like I don’t know how to live a life without someone.

  • When I lived up there, I only ever heard water-vil-ay

  • Inside the earths mantle, so I would die instantly. There’s a couple different TV shows that show that even the most confident and capable survivalists won’t last very long in the wild. Even if I had that hubris, I still wouldn’t want to be alone.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Would you enter a relationship with someone with genital herpes?
