Ugh I posted a selfie, so I guess I’ll do a somewhat real bio now that I’m not a mystery person anymore :/

  • Trans woman (she/her)
  • Photographer
  • Fashion addict
  • Occasional techie
  • Friendly (feel free to reach out)

  • I have a couple hundred keys I’ve found on the street over the years. I also have a collection of old cameras. I have 9 right now, but I’m getting a whole box of them for free in the next few days.

  • I don’t believe that will ever come to pass. That future relies on the creation of a real AI and not just fancy text predictors. That real AI would also have to be actually sustainable which LLMs are not.

Not only has there been no progress on real AI, it wouldn’t be able to ruin society even if we did manage to make it. The rich and powerful are not impervious. They will inevitably make too many people too poor and then be overrun and torn to shreds. It’s happened countless times before and if we’ve learned anything from Ukraine and the Middle East this past decade, it’s impossible to bomb a large group of people into submission.

  • Have you heard of the “permanent underclass”? It’s a concept that silicon valley people have become obsessed with. Silicon Valley tech workers are doing hard drugs and taking untested peptides so that they can work harder and longer all in the pursuit of escaping the permanent underclass they believe AI will create. These people believe that when AI takes all the jobs, everyone who isn’t already rich will become part of some permanently unemployable poverty class.

It’s madness, but you already have to be unwell and have no concern for humanity in order to work at these giga tech firms in the first place.

  • I grew pretty devout episcopal. I was an acolyte for all the masses and participated in all the other community activities my church ran.

I never really believed in God. I’ve just always been that way with stuff like that. Never believed in Santa or any other magical figures. That said, I’ve always agreed with the core idea of the religion to love everyone and I always envied the comfort people who believe in a God must feel. So I kinda went and tried hard to like cargo cult my way into belief to know what it was like.

My parents kinda started going nuts at some point and we stopped going to stuff. My church was too far to walk or bike to, so I stopped going. Nothing much happened after that. There was girl who lived in the rectory that I went to school with. I later learned she had a crush on me which kinda explained why she was always trying to get me to come back when we talked.

  • I want to learn things and meet people and understand the world and humanity. I can never get even remotely close to doing as much as I want to in my tiny life, so I have to do everything in my power to allow myself to do as much as possible before I die.

  • I listen to mostly far left podcasts about various topics.

    1. Mostly through crossover episodes where hosts of one show appear in one I already listen to.
    2. “Well There’s Your Problem” a funny podcast about engineering disasters and “Behind the Bastards” a funny podcast about some of the worst people in history.
  • I saw “Kinky Boots” with Brendan Urie on Broadway, that was a really cool experience. I also saw Pink do her whole wire swinging act while singing which was super impressive even if it’s not really my kind of music. I may be biased because it was just last week, but the HVasquez Circus had some really incredible acts when I went to see it. I’ve been to a ton of concerts, but if I’m being honest, I was piss drunk at like 90% of them so it’s hard to pick one in particular as a really cool performance.

As far as not in person stuff I’ve seen, a lot of the Red Bull stunts come to mind. Skating down a skyscraper, BMX on a moving train, that guy skydiving from space.

  • I recently bought an old vhs camcorder at a thrift store. Spent the past week getting some new tapes, un-jamming the old one it came with, getting new batteries and wiring up a portable dvr. Now I’ve got an old video camera that takes some nice crusty video and I can easily capture the tape effects too. Now I gotta figure out what I want to record with it. I’ve done photography for over a decade, but I’ve never really been a video person. I’m also interested in circuit-bending, but I’m reluctant to risk it after the effort I put into this camera.

  • I became an alcoholic. Stopped worrying so much because I was drunk all the time. Built a reputation for being relaxed and confident. Started going to parties and clubs. Built up real confidence. Stopped drinking so much.

Can’t say I would recommend my path, but I’m happy where I am.

  • I used to work in a sheet metal shop years ago back when I was an alcoholic. I was super hungover one day and just took a nap in the stall for an hour and change.

  • I only recognize PugJesus by name and there are a few regular posters on the trans communities who I recognize in their pictures.

  • Failure is self defined. To me failure is too final a term. If I tried something and it doesn’t work that was just an unsuccessful attempt or a flawed plan. I can always try again or rethink my plan.

To better answer your question, I try to figure out what went wrong and plan my next step if it’s something important. If it’s not too important I do something else for a bit.

  • Asshole: Someone who is rude, selfish, or both. Basically a stronger version of jerk.

Jackass: Someone who is careless or stupid but not rude or selfish. I never call anyone a jackass, but I almost exclusively see it as a term used to deride someone you’re familiar or friendly with for being mischievous or careless.

Dickhead: Someone who is careless or stupid as well as rude or selfish. All dickheads are assholes, but not all asshole are dickheads.

  • I value spreading positivity and helping people. If I think a quick comment can do that, it’s worth my time to me.

  • Write your comment, but ask yourself right before you hit send: “I’m gonna die one day. Is this what I want to spend time on? Is this what I want to be remembered for?” Eventually you’ll ask yourself that before you finish writing and later still you’ll ask yourself that when you think about writing the comment.

  • I’ve taken a bunch of anxiety meds. The only one that worked somewhat was Ativan, but I stopped after a few weeks because I was too anxious about taking it regularly and developing a benzo addiction.

  • I can’t really afford international travel right now, but I’d tolerate a good bit of security fuckery. I don’t really care if some foreign government has my biometric data if I can get in and get out smoothly.

  • Reliability isn’t black or white, there are varying degrees to it. Some people can be counted on more for some things than others. Some people can only be counted on in certain contexts or with proper preparation. You’ll never find anyone you could rely on 100%, I’d wager you couldn’t even rely on yourself that much.

How much you can rely on someone or vice versa isn’t what I would consider in my rubric for whether I’m alone or not. Sometimes you have to deal with things alone, sometimes you choose to. That’s just life. Support and help are nice when you can get it, but it’s your life in the end. You have to be the one to live it.

I’d only consider myself lonely if there’s no one I connect to and if that were the case, I’d look for new people. Eventually I’ll find someone I connect to in some aspect of our lives. Even if I can’t always talk to them about my struggles in that aspect, I’ll know they’re out there struggling too and that will give me some peace and validation.

  • oh duh, I though it was the no happiness thing lol. Yeah, I’m almost incapable of forming mental images. I can kinda build an image by adding details, but they fade quickly. So I have to essentially keep re-adding details rapidly to sustain the image. So the images are imprecise and constantly changing. It’s like looking at a kinda rough sketchy animation. It takes a lot of concentration to do too, so most of the time I have no images in my head.
