I don't read DMs.

  • Live ants.

This was 30 years ago. I lived on the second floor of an apartment. I left a half-eaten bag of Little Debbie chocolate donuts on the floor next to my bed. The next night, in a dark room, watching David Letterman, I remembered and reached for the bag. I was three donuts in before I noticed the slightly strange taste, and the ant crawling on my face.

Ants taste a bit sour and bitter.

  • Everyone was mad at them for firing Colbert, so they aren't going to watch whoever replaces him. They know that, so they gave the slot to Byron.

  • See Xbox. Also, Byron Allen got Colbert's time slot.

  • I have a weird diet that works well for me.

I don't like fish. So it's chicken thighs for me. I get the organic ones to avoid antibiotics. I take omega-3 supplements. Sardines are supposed to be very good for us, but I just can't do it.

Breakfast: some baby carrots, and a handful of roasted cashews, plus coffee.

Main meal at lunchtime: spinach, brussel sprouts, broccoli, tomato, and onion heated up in the microwave, while the chicken pan-fries in olive oil. Topped with a simple Parmesan cheese sauce. Plus an apple.

Evening meal: frozen blueberries with a bit of instant coffee, cinnamon, sugar, and milk. A square of 85% dark chocolate.

I snack on nuts and drink decaf coffee throughout the day.

This has been my routine for over three years now. This is everything I eat, I don't go out. The meals have varied only slightly over the years. For instance, I'm currently experimenting with replacing the chicken with lentils once or twice a week, to save some money and get a bit more fiber and reduce the calories, but it might be too much fiber.

  • Fuck you, Thom Tillis. I have zero respect for you.

  • Because all of their customers were clamoring for such a "feature"?

Of course, it will have the option of being "turned off".

I mean, we've all long suspected our phones are listening to us anyway, why not make it into a "feature".

  • How about a phone for people who aren't addicted to them, but want the basics without being spied on?

Things I want in a phone:

    • GPS with maps and directions.
    • A browser for the rare occasions I want to look something up when I'm away from home. The last time I used it was to find which aisle something was on at Lowe's.
    • Texting.
    • Phone calls.
    • Notes.
    • A decent camera.
    • No bigger than an iPhone 12 mini, which is what I have now, and it's plenty big enough.

I don't do anything else. Mostly my phone sits on my desk, ignored unless it makes a noise at me. I take it with me sometimes when I leave the house, but sometimes I don't bother-not addicted.

  • xenophobic propaganda

It has nothing to do with xenophobia. You're right, obviously this will benefit all billionaires, especially those under U.S. jurisdiction. But, the reason for calling out Mexican cartels and Russian oligarchs is to never imply that U.S. billionaires are Bad People. It's the same reason they're the only ones who are ever mentioned in this context, to misdirect public ire.

  • For all billionaires, not just Trump.

  • Why not map all of Earth? It would fit.

  • It's important to have these studies, even though the result is predictable. People who want to move toward restricting AI in schools need something more than anecdotes to point to as justification.

  • I'm immediately suspicious of any major change to the Judicial system proposed, especially while Rs control Congress. Not that I wouldn't be suspicious if Ds did.

My guess is they want to influence the Judges. Obviously, it has nothing at all to do with "the public's right to know", that's just bullshit.

  • I wish I'd taken Spanish. I grew up in California and live in New Mexico. Why did I take French, what the hell was I thinking?

Well, I know what I was thinking, 'everyone takes Spanish, I'll be different.' I'm an idiot.

  • Well, at least they're doing something!

  • What law would I potentially break if I tipped one over?

I've never seen one IRL where I live, they wouldn't make much sense in suburbia, but I suppose I might come across one someday, if they keep multiplying.

  • I too, ran across Bitcoin in the VERY early days, when it was pennies. I thought it was a scam and probably illegal, I mean "people can't just set up their own currency, can they?" It didn't help that I first found it when I was poking around in Tor, wondering what the "dark web" was all about.

  • If you don't have any of these ingredients, it will cost you $24 to buy them all. And, you'll only get 4 batches, before you need to buy more mayo, and 16 batches out of the buttermilk, but you'd better use it up before it goes bad in two weeks. So, you'd need to make and use about one batch per day.

Unless you commit to making it ongoing, and use it regularly, this is not an economical way to get Ranch.

  • If they implement this for Gmail, it will be the reason I finally leave Gmail. That will be a PIA, though.

  • You only need utensils for mac and cheese when it's hot, though.

  • Fuck you, Bezos.

Just because I haven't said it yet, today.

No, I didn't read the article, because it's bullshit. Of course, it is.
