So, this is the place where I'm going to be generally hanging out and trolling around, while my Pixelfed, Mastodon, and Blacksky accounts are going to be primarily art posting accounts, and I also have a Nooki account.

I'm also going to start to be active more on here than on lemmy.org, so I'm making this my primary Lemmy account now.

I'll link the other socials I'm varying levels of active on below, plus my lemmy.org account which I'm demoting to my secondary account if that instance is going to be more unstable from now on.

  • Paramount buying out WB, and actually being allowed to at that. That bribe that Paramount slipped under the table to the Justice Department has to have been massive for that to be allowed.

  • I got ahead of all that and jumped ship to Lemmy before it got really bad.

  • Given how spread-out Lemmy is, it'll be pretty hard to screw it in the same way Reddit got screwed, though. Like, if a given instance doesn't like you, or you don't like that given instance, there are plenty of others for you to move to, or you could host your own if you have the hardware and admin skills.

  • I didn't get banned, I left Reddit voluntarily when they announced that they were going to be increasing censorship on their site a year or so ago.

My reasoning was, 'It's only a matter of time before I *do* get banned for something stupid, so I might as well leave this site on my own while I'm still ahead.'

  • What's probably gonna happen is a rapid buildout of infrastructure for cloud compute by reusing the datacenters for things like Windows 365 subscriptions.

There's gotta be a second ulterior motive besides AI behind these datacenters, and the fact that Win365 even exists could be one such motive.

  • AI companies lobbying to get this overturned in 3... 2... 1...

  • What happened to free speech rights? They just don't exist anymore?

  • Wouldn't that depend on the format, too? Like I kinda doubt 8mm/Super8 and 16mm/Super16 is infinitely upscalable, ditto for 110 or 35mm half-frame.

  • How soon before they start doing this to Win10 installations?

Your Windows 10 installation is no longer supported and will no longer boot on this PC. Sign up for Windows 365 to continue using this PC or buy a new Windows 11 PC at these fine retailers. (lists every big-box store in the US)

  • Scam Bankrun Fraud. Sam 'Madoff' Altman....

  • Hell no, he shouldn't use an LLM to finish what is basically his life's work.

  • So I'm assuming the big Fediverse instances will be blocked in this state, but small self-hosted instances need not worry, yet?

    • Anyone trying to get people onto alternatives, which don't help given Meta tried to EEE the Fediverse with Threads.

  • Ever since RFK Jr. took over the health department. The guy very publicly hates AuDHD people.

  • They've threatened to put AuDHD people on a list before too. The US is dangerously close to causing a second Holocaust with how they've acted thus far to any minorities.

  • Very. It's even dangerous to live here as a citizen now on multiple levels, let alone visit from another country. I'd flee in a heartbeat to a country that hasn't turned into a dictatorship yet if I could.

  • Good luck with forcing this on FOSS.

  • This shit shouldn't ever be legal.

  • KeePassXC, or ChiPass if you don't like LLMs in your password manager, but there are no precompiled binaries for this fork yet so you'll need to build it from source. That way you'll have your passwords entirely locally-hosted and won't have to worry about whether or not a cloud provider will rugpull you. I should advise, that if you do move to KeePass, you'll need to export your Bitwarden passwords in a way that KeePass will recognize when you go to import them.

As for KeePassXC's involvement in LLMs, this blog post covers that.

And here's KeePassDX for mobile users.
