  • They just want to be right, that's all it comes down to. They do this a lot around here, they simply refuse to consider anything but their own opinion, so when someone challenges that, they lose their mind and thus their reading comprehension. They also love to twist your words to make it seem like you're the one that doesn't understand (as they've done to several people, including myself, in this thread).

  • Holy, I get that things are bleak to say the least, however the GOP is doing this because they're looking at heavy losses across the board, not just in VA. I think you're missing the whole picture to be honest. Plus, gerrymandering can backfire as you're diluting the voting pool. I understand dooming and all, but I think it's too soon to say that the Dems will certainly lose the house.

    That's not to say this isn't a bad thing, but it also could backfire and cause higher turnout.

  • I avoid slop code like yours because typically the user of the slop generator has no real idea of how things actually work, the slop is over-"engineered", and it's likely full of security issues. Further, it also wastes tons of resources just for poorly written slop.

    I especially wouldn't ever touch your cryptographic slop.

    I've noticed that you seem to hate living in WA, every comment you make about it is hating on it in some way. You've even claimed that blue states deserved raids by ICE because they have gun control. Look at all of your comments in the Washington community: they're mostly anti-legislature, hating on WA voters, or blaming anyone besides the rich (Brian Heywood) when ballot initiatives don't work out. Why do you live here if you hate it so much? There are plenty of nearby states that are cheaper to live in and do not have the democratic supermajority that you hate so much.

  • I agree when it comes to most "smart" home devices. However, I wired an ESP32 to my heat pump for remote control and automation, which has been absolutely fantastic. Also, I use a ton of ZigBee and zwave, since those are not "smart" by themselves and are local-only.

    It's the cloud bullshit that always breaks and spies on users that I hate.

  • I don't deny that he'll try, but them passing laws like the SAVE act show that they're still planning on having elections. There would be no need to do voter suppression if you were just going to cancel the election. That's the thing I'm really saying - the elections may not be free, they will cheat (or at least try to cheat), but there will be ""elections"". I'd rather not make people feel like they shouldn't bother voting because "the election is going to be cancelled anyway". The more people that turn out, the harder it is to cheat.

  • I didn't say he operates within the checks and balances of the system. Those seats will be filled one way or another, meaning that there will likely be elections of some sort. It's just predetermined, like Russia. That is more plausible than fully cancelling the elections under martial law. Why do that when you can keep up the ruse of ""elections""? Why would you forcibly cancel them, making it so people directly see that you're doing so, and give them the chance to rise up against you?

    Similarly, why bother with voter suppression bills like the SAVE act if you're going to throw it all in the trash anyway?

    This is exactly why Russia and countries like it still hold ""elections"". It's easier to control the population when they feel like they still have a say.

    They need the elections as much as the Dems. It's a matter of how free the elections will be. They will happen, but will they be predetermined like in Russia, or will they be the US standard level of BS?
