  • A cheerful chirpy yes-we-can attitude is the last thing my inbox needs.

  • “I need a vpn”

    Why?

    “Privacy”

You trust SuperNeatVPN headquartered in $unregulatedCountry more than your own ISP? It’s all TLS now anyways.

“I run a VPN because Joe Rogan says I need to in order to be secure”

Man, do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is when people run VPNs on their BYOD or work device (hey I don’t manage it, I’m just the MSP), have an established history of popping up all around the world, and then eagerly click the phishing links?

  • The mistake was a bunch of people who learned how to use computers as adults thinking that the only way to learn how to use a computer is to do so from a young age, in non-vocational ways.

    Doesn’t make sense, does it?

  • Protein is good but you need mass gainer. 30g protein, add in 100g carbohydrate like maltodextrin or find a mass gainer supplement with some vitamins and stuff. It’s not “good for you” and it’s not whole foods, but you are way underweight and liquid food can help.

We’re not talking about a deficit that can be made up with a couple 150 calorie protein shakes, you need 1000+ calories.

And no, low BMI isn’t a definitive symptom of ADHD. I know people who are obese and personally I was around 19 until I started to pay attention (hyperfocus) to diet.

Forget all that, go see a doctor.

  • Blue collar jobs were mostly not automated, just sent overseas.

  • This might be the stupidest thing I see all week. “Fool Google by writing a fake blog post and a specific search term” yes, it’s worked that way since 1999.

  • It may be simplest to move it to a hosted server. Depending on the length of outages, your comfort with electrical things, and your budget, you could get a bigger battery and use the inverter in the UPS (there are caveats-the inverter in the UPS is not rated for higher end of its load past the battery capacity it’s got and may burn itself out, and the charger may not work properly with the larger battery or with different chemistry), or get a battery/inverter box like a Ecoflow or that sort of thing. Solar may be a good bet too.

I don’t know about matrix but failing over between public IPs probably requires a HA sync of some type and also DNS failover.

  • Trash

due to a battery recall the buses are a fire hazard and can’t be charged in a garage.

And apparently the batteries don’t have thermal management so can’t be charged outdoors.

That somehow means that the entire concept of an EV bus is unsuited to the environment, and should stick with Diesel because we can’t try anything new ever.

  • Paper. It’s unwieldy but there’s something about screens that doesn’t work for me.

  • Proper form? Strictly speaking no, but I’m close. I learned on IRC, and can crank out an acceptable 90wpm - though that’s small potatoes compared to pros.

  • It’s not that I’m anti bean. I know beans are popular as “protein sources” but black beans have a 3:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein. I’d consider them a source of carbs first for most people. Beans are a better source of protein than the new wave of protein-washed foods for example protein Doritos, or some “protein bars” that are like 20g protein 100g carbs 15g fat and it’s all mystery highly processed mystery ingredients.

Probably still a cheaper source of protein and if it’s not salted in a can probably a lot healthier overall too

  • Assume the breach - that includes your password manager host. Especially your password manager host.

The summary is here; the linked article is a bit short on detail. https://zkae.io/

I read the summary but haven’t gotten into the details on each. It is concerning that Bitwarden has so many issues, as it’s the only one that is offered as a self hosted solution in addition to SaaS - I do think it’s unlikely for a home lab to get the kind of attention that would result in using these methods against the vault, but it’s possible. Attackers have been known to go after admins. Lastpass has had their run ins with breaches before and shouldn’t score so highly. 1Password seems to have good architecture and a responsive team.
